Amen and Amen. It’s why, when I come into a new restaurant, I always ask to be seated where I will get “a waitron [neutral for waiter/waitress] who needs a good laugh.” And then I make sure I get their name right away (and use it); thank them honestly and with eye contact; and if they have been top notch (and I usually get that kind of service with my attitude) they get a 20-25% tip AND the penny. And a compliment written on the bill. Because they need all of that, and I’m happy to provide it.
