  • Narcan Nasal Spray

The current situation in US As per the statistics sourced through the centers for disease control and prevention, it has been revealed that over 52,000 people have died due to over dosage of drugs in the year 2015. It should be noted that more than 60% of these deaths have occurred due to the over dosage of opioids such as heroin and prescribed pain relievers. Opioid prescribing has been the key reason for this situation. It should be noted that a significant percentage of the opioid overdose deaths have caused via prescribed setups. The giants in the medical industry have been working on solutions to develop products which would reverse the critical effects caused by opioid over dosage. The Narcan® Nasal Spray comes handy in this situation. It is the only FDA authenticated nasal spray which is to be used in situations of emergency caused due to the over dosage or a suspected over dosage of opioid. The central nervous system and the signs of depression are the key indicators of this situation. How does this work? This spray contains naloxone hydrochloride, which has the ability to block and avoid the life threatening causes like respiratory depression during a scenario of opioid over dosage.Naxolone is considered to be a pure opioid antagonist and it performs the function of reversing the depression caused within the central nervous system and respiratory system as a result of opioids. It would be a wise step to keep a bottle Nacran nasal spray in your residence to face any situation of emergency caused due to the accidental over dosage of opioid. It involves quite a simple a process. When you inhale or insert the spray to your nose thrills, the naloxone molecules move up to the brain immediately. It then combines with the receptor sites and destroy the opioid particles to make a reverse action. The dosage is dependent on the situation. Usually, the effect of this chemical lasts for about half an hour to one hour’s time. It would be a wise step to follow the instructions on the box if you are using it for the first time. Instructions to use This nasal spray should be inserted while the patient is lying on her/his back with a guard. You should read the instructions provided, if you are spraying it to another person. Please contact the manufacturer through the hotline or consult a doctor to clarify any doubts regarding the usage of this product. You got to identify the symptoms of opioid overdose within the patient prior to using this nasal spray. The patient could display a slow breathing process or no breathing at all and then he/she could develop small pupils within the eyes. The slow heartbeat is also a symptom of opioid overdose. If the person tends to sleep for long hours and you find it difficult to wake them up, it is also a clear sign of opioid over dose. You got to monitor the patient after he is being sprayed with the nasal spray. Make sure that you spray the product every 2 to 3 minutes until the emergency treatment team reaches. This product cannot be used as a permanent treatment method to treat opioid overdose. The patient will require immediate treatments after an emergency situation of opioid overdose. Possible side-effects The manufacturer has identified a set of common side-effects relevant to this nasal spray. These side effects could be in the form of vomiting, fast heart beating rate, high sweating, tiring and restlessness. The ideal solution to avoid these side effects would be to provide the patient with small doses in limited time intervals until they reach the effect.

  • Most Abused Prescription Drugs

In recent years lots of people have been found to be addicted to prescription drugs and the number keeps increasing every year. Plenty of teenagers are getting hooked onto them as well with lots of individuals overdosing and even dying through the abuse of prescribed drugs. The downside is that pharmaceutical companies put out more drugs every year than the population can deal with and this leads to individuals consuming more prescription drugs than ever before. Whether it’s taken to lose weight, improve focus or get high, whenever these drugs are used for reasons other than what they were intended for, users face the same dilemma associated with illegal drugs. Below will list some of the most abused and mishandled prescription drugs available and what to look out for. OxyContin This drug is narcotic (pain reliever) typically used to treat mild to severe pain. It is one of the most abused prescription drugs and because of this a crush-resistant formula was invented and put out in 2010 to prevent the abuse of OxyContin. Xanax Xanax is used in the treatment of panic disorders and anxiety disorders commonly known as a depressant. If used incorrectly it causes the person to black out or feel extremely high and is quite often mixed with alcohol. Many users claim to have absolutely no memory of what takes place after having used the drug. Withdrawing from Xanax is very dangerous and can be fatal if medical assistance is not requested in treating it. Vicodin This too is used as a pain killer to aid in relieving moderate to severe pain. Even though it is known to be less harmful when compared to Percocet or OxyContin, more advanced versions of Vicodin is now being made available. Which now increases the risk of more people getting hooked onto the drug. Suboxone Suboxone was created with the purpose of maintaining a treatment to assist in opioid dependence. Initially used as a way of bridging the patient into abstaining from drugs and used in the process of opiate detox for patients addicted to heroin, cocaine or other prescription drugs. Now though you can find it being sold on the streets and it has become a leading illicit drug being bought and sold in countless prisons across America. Adderall Adderall is a psych stimulant drug sold in pharmacies to treat ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder) and narcolepsy as well. It is widely used in universities/campuses, with students claiming it helps them focus better and it is also used by people who work in stressful environments. This drug is readily available over the counter and is often prescribed to adults. Valium Also known as Diazepam and is commonly used in the treatment of alcohol withdrawal symptoms, muscle spasms and anxiety disorders. In most cases it is overprescribed or incorrectly administered to patients battling an addiction. This drug is often abused along with other depressants and alcohol. Percocet This is another narcotic painkiller and is combined with two types of analgesics to treat different kinds of pains/muscle spasms. This drug is often crushed and snorted for an immediate high and is known to be highly addictive. Ambien Ambien is a sedative drug used to treat insomnia (short-term). It helps patients either fall asleep or to remain sleeping for longer periods of time. It is commonly used by combining it with other drugs or to come of the high feeling from other drugs such as – Crystal Meth, Crack or Cocaine. These are a just a few of the prescription drugs being abused by millions of people, which are extremely dangerous and are knownto cause physical pain/emotional suffering if not detoxed medically. If you know anyone abusing prescription drugs or illegal drugs for that matter, get them the help they need immediately.
