    1. A sturdy piece of luggage from Away — complete with a durable shell, ejectable battery, combination lock, and hidden laundry bag — that'll be with you for the long haul.

Promising review: "Never have I taken a trip that was as smooth and easy as this last one with my Away bag. It held everything perfectly and orderly. The bag is beyond light, so for the first time I walked through airports without sweating and struggling with my bag. The design is FIERCE! Super stylish and even strangers were complimenting. The wheels are so smooth. And my favorite part of course is the battery pack. Not only does it charge my phone faster than any other charger I have; I was able to charge all of my devices on the one juice pack. Life saver. This is the smartest bag ever. Intelligently designed and perfect!" —Valerie R.

Get the carry-on bag from Away for $225 (available with or without ejectable battery and in nine colors). Upgrade to the bigger carry-on for $245.

    2. A heavy-duty (and very beautiful, FWIW) trash can will open its lid when you: a) say "open can" or b) wave your hands in front of its sensor — perfect for those times when you don't have an extra hand to do it yourself.

Promising review: "Who knew a voice-activated trash can could so quickly become an essential around my house. When my hands are dirty or full, I no longer have to worry about how I'm going to get the garbage into the can. Set up couldn't be easier: plug it in or drop in 6 AA batteries. From there all you have to do is activate the motion sensor by walking up to the can, or you can say 'open can' and it flips right open.

But there's more to it than that. The 58L is well designed from the ground up. It has a sleek, minimalist vibe with a stainless steel exterior that resists fingerprints. On the back of the can is a little slot that holds the batteries or where the adapter plugs in, but it also has a little spot to hold can liners. That is actually a nice feature to have because I used to keep my liners in the base of the can and they have been ruined by leaky bags. While you can use any bag that is the right size for the can, the Q bags that are made to fit this particular shape are very nice. They can hold a lot and they don't tear or rip easily. The liner is held in place by a plastic piece that fits over the edge, making it stay in place and looking much nicer than your typical liner.

The motion sensor works very well. I've never approached the can and not had it open. I have it in my hallway, and I was worried that it would open every time I walked by, but the sensitivity is calibrated so that you really have to get right up to the can to open it. Walking by doesn't generally set it off. The can will also stay open if you stay by it, which is nice when you are struggling to get something in there. The voice feature has worked an astounding 100% of the time. " —Kristine Hale

Get it from Amazon for $199.99 (available in five colors).

    3. A uniform set of food storage containers to tidy up your kitchen shelves. Each container's circular center pop-up button creates a vacuum-like seal for the ultimate airtight solution.

Promising review: "This is the second set of OXO Pop containers that I have purchased. I bought the really big set a while ago and was hooked. No longer will my white rice/grains/rolled oats/grits go wormy, my cat's kibble is stored in a clear container so I can see when it's running low. I love these containers. They are lightweight enough so there's no strain on the wrists, yet heavy enough they don't tip over easily. The lids are easy to clean, and you could apply labels to distinguish between flours and sugars. They are expensive, but I believe you get what you pay for — quality costs extra money. If I need another set in the future, I will buy it." —Judith A Loue

Get them from Amazon for $42.29+ (available as a three- or five-piece set).

    4. A bedframe, because you're probably not going to end up in a rom-com with your mattress on the floor. These are facts!

Promising review: "I love this sturdy and simple bed frame! It's really cool because it collapses down. In a matter of minutes, the frame is only two inches thick and can be carried out easily by one person. That would be great for home staging but I use it all the time. Totally worth the price, and if you shop strategically on Amazon, you can get a really high-end look for pennies on the dollar." —Charlie

Get it from Amazon for $60.99 (available in four styles and seven sizes).

Get it from Food52 for $130.

    6. A paper shredder, so you can be more careful about disposing of your personal information. It's an investment in your security!

Promising review: "I am *impressed* with this little shredder. We had several months' backlog after unexpectedly having to cancel our quarterly shred service. I was expecting to spend hours catching up. Boy, was I wrong! This little dude ate envelopes full of credit offers, balance transfers, and every other annoying POS junk mail we get. I got through it all, including one time to empty it, in less than an hour. Never jammed, never overheated. I can't say enough good things about this little guy! Just buy it!" —Jenna H

Get it from Amazon for $109.99+ (available in four types with different paper-shredding abilities).

    7. A multifunctional (and much beloved) Simple Elephant planner to stay on top of your daily obligations.

It includes undated pages, weekly spreads with “Goals for This Week," “Successes,” and “What I Can Do Better,” two "My Focus" pages (a place to document things you're grateful for, goals, and positive messages), "My Mindmap" and "My Vision Board" pages, 59 blank journaling pages, and lots of stickers.

Promising review: "Love this planner. I love the free-form format. You can skip weeks you know you're out of town or whatever and save those pages for another time. I think my favorite part of this planner is the first two pages. Everything to do with this planner is how YOU make it. For me, it also helped (kind of made) me reflect on things I really do want and goals I really do want to achieve. Words of affirmation was difficult for me to fill out so I looked them up online and wrote the ones that spoke to me most. How I want to/should be seeing myself." —Amazon Customer

    8. A place to regularly hang your keys, like this wall-mountable rack, because you won't always have a roommate to come to your rescue when you get locked out. An investment in one of these is an investment in less time camped out on the front steps.

All necessary wall mounting hardware is included!

Promising review: "This caddy is very useful and helpful. Our entire family uses it to keep up with all of our various keys. We didn’t use the mounting kit that came with it because it was more convenient to just use Command strips to avoid damaging the wall. We placed it directly behind our front door so that as soon as we walk in the door or prepare to leave home, we always know where our keys last were. We also used it as a reminder to mail or take various things out the door with us. It was worth the purchase." —Cali Gal

Get it from Amazon for $19.99 (available in four colors).

    9. A waxed canvas lunch box that'll beat bringing wasteful materials to work every day.

Promising review: "I thought this was awesome when it arrived, but it really won my husband's heart yesterday when he took soup and fruit to work. At lunch, he opened his bag and found that his container of soup had opened and his fruit was floating in liquid. He poured the soup out and rinsed the inside of the thing with water, and was so surprised [that it didn't leak out] that he showed it to me — and had me smell the inside of the bag when he got home. I want to buy another one even though we don't need it — just because it's that amazing!" —P.U. - Patty Underwood

Get it from Amazon for $24 (available in three colors).

    10. A countertop garden to give your kitchen some nice ornamental greenery and a hefty supply of herbs and veggies for your next homemade meal. (Even if you have a terrible track record with keeping plants alive, it'll be pretty hard to mess this one up.)

Yi Yang / BuzzFeed / Via BuzzFeed

Promising review: "I love to cook, so the thought of having fresh herbs and veggies right on my kitchen counter was exciting. However, I had never had much success gardening. This new Goodful AeroGarden changed that for me. I made the best Caprese salad I have ever eaten last week with some fresh basil from my garden. My kids actually enjoy helping me harvest and eat something green. It is freezing outside right now, but we still have fresh produce growing in our home! I can't believe it works this well. If you enjoy cooking or gardening, I would highly recommend." —FreshMom

Promising review: "I loved how fast these arrived and how easy it was to install them. Although the pictures it comes with are great, I replaced them with our recent and favorite honeymoon photos in black and white. Can’t wait till my family comes over! Great product and the template is immensely helpful. I saved me so much time when hanging." —Star

It’s only been two months, but my brain, energy levels, digestion, and skin all seem to be faring quite well. I’m not saying that’s all thanks to my new comprehensive vitamin regimen, but I’m not saying it’s not, either. 13. A portable Bluetooth speaker from Anker, because your laptop speakers are simply ill-equipped for the dinner parties in your future.

Promising review: "Great portable speaker with big sound! I've already paired the speaker with my smart phone and laptop computer. For such a small speaker, it delivers amazing highs and lows. I live in a condo and did a range test on the speaker and I was able to go downstairs to my car and still have uninterrupted quality sound at 75 feet from the source! This speaker is built solid and at a very reasonable price! This is not my first Anker product. All my Anker products for the past few years have given me solid performance!" —wxsurfer

There have been a few times that I got greasy food on the case and thought to myself, Well, that's gonna leave a nice mark! But so far, it has been very resilient. It looks professional but with a twist. Love it!" —Kylie&TheCats

Get it from Amazon for $18.99.

    15. A sleek compost bin with an adjustable air vent you can mount on your cabinet door if you prefer to keep it out of sight. Wow — an investment in the future of our planet!

Promising review: "I never knew how awful my metal compost bin was until I got this beauty! Easy to open with one hand, the bag stays in place, and it's lightweight. Everything that's wrong with the traditional countertop compost bin, this bin solves. Life changing." —Emma

Get it from Amazon for $19.99.

    16. An easy-to-use NutriBullet blender for protein-packed smoothies on the go.

Promising review: "I absolutely love this thing. I'm a big fan of juicing but the ordeal of cleaning the juicer that I bought was getting time-consuming. However with this, I can blend up just about anything. And from what I can see I get a lot more from it. I can also use this as a blender to make smoothies or grind coffee beans; I've been making my own homemade nut butter and nut milk. I've also made my own hummus! Forget all of your other products! Promising review: "I've used this on all of my favorite shoes and boots. Then I used it on my purse. It's enjoyable seeing how much improvement you can see on beat-up leather. The scent is what sold me on this product. I loved that it was an almond scent. But the results are so much better. It took about two minutes to clean them up. Highly recommended. Also their customer service is top-notch." —RileyD

Get it from Amazon for $16.95+ (available in two sizes).

    18. An electric scrubber with four heads and an extension arm if you think it's maybe time to address the mess that is your bathroom head on. (This thing will blast the mildew buildup on your tile floor, toilet, tub, and shower walls to smithereens.)

Oh, and it's cordless for max portability!

Promising review: "This little device is my new favorite thing! Cleaning our shower was my least favorite chore. Now I can get a deeper clean in less than half the time. I can get two cleanings out of a single charge. I love the different brush heads. The corner one is great for getting around the handle and in the shelves, while the flat head really scrubs the shower walls and floor. I am looking forward to seeing how this performs on the grout in our kitchen floor as well, and hoping that I can say goodbye to the old toothbrush method! After using this product once time our shower looked the cleanest it ever has since it was brand new." —Amazon Customer

    20. A basic home tool kit to skip that embarrassing phone call to your parents.

Includes: a tape measurer, a hammer, pliers, a bit driver, a bit connector, scissors, a utility snap-off knife, four screwdrivers, hex keys, and 20 screwdriver bits.

Promising review: "The tools are entirely serviceable. The best part is the variety of tools they throw into a very small case. I haven't damaged any of them, but they don't feel as durable as a high quality set of shop or automotive tools – but that wasn't what I was looking for. It's great to tighten the odd screw, install small items, or tap gizmos back into place rather than having to wait for building maintenance or IT to show up. A good deal!" —Geriatric Suthriner

Get it from Amazon for $17.99+ (available in two colors).

    21. A rice cooker that'll do the heavy-lifting for you come dinnertime. (Plus, there's oatmeal to consider.)

Promising review: "Best rice cooker ever made. Having the setting for steel-cut oats is why I purchased this item and it works perfectly: one cup steel-cut oats (using the clear cup that comes with the cooker) and three cups water (using same clear cup). With this amount, it makes two to four servings depending on how big you want your serving to be. I refrigerate the extra servings and heat in microwave the next day or for a snack." —Bruce Bradshaw

Get it from Amazon for $149.

    22. A set of rattan kitchen placemats to help preserve your eating surfaces.

Promising review: "Wow. Didn't think the quality would be this good, considering the price I paid. The placemat is very sturdy and of course there's going to be a variance in coloring and each one adds character and uniqueness to the table. Love them!" —Dawn D.

    23. An Instant Pot that just might revolutionize the way you cook — and by that I mean, fewer occasions for cereal dinners. This thing is truly a lazy person's best friend.

Promising review: "I absolutely despise spending a lot of time in the kitchen after work. I am tired, just want to pour a glass of wine, and binge-watch Supernatural. My boyfriend can't cook to save his life, so that isn't much help either. I'd feel better eating something created out of real, edible foods rather than microwaved in a pouch with fake cheese, so I cook even when I stay over at his house. Just when I was pondering the option of breaking up and finding a man who can cook (not really), INSTANT POT HAPPENED! Dinner is done and ready to eat every time in less than an hour. Sometimes WAY less than an hour. I can't believe I survived 30 years without one! It would have been AMAZING back when I was in college! I am constantly learning new things I can whip up (sometimes trial and error, sometimes recipe books). I can throw frozen chicken breasts in it, seasoning, just hit poultry setting, adjust the time up a bit, and boom. Super tender amazing chicken. Something about handling raw chicken makes me too disgusted to eat it once it's cooked, so being able to throw it in frozen is such a relief." —Sunahm

Get it from Amazon for $69.95+ (available in 6- and 8-quart).

    24. A mini steamer that'll ensure you never roll up to a meeting looking like a crinkled-up mess, even while traveling.

Promising review: "I am so happy to say I am clearing space in my house by getting rid of my ironing board and replacing it with this steamer! It is simple! You fill it with water, place the head on, turn it on, and steam! No more wet spots on your clothes from the steam in an iron. I just hung the shirt I was going to steam and worked from the top down. The bristles get out those big wrinkles with ease! So much faster than a normal iron." —kirby masters

Get it from Amazon for $24.99+ (available in two colors).

    25. A 321-piece first aid kit so you're always prepared for what life throws at you.

Includes: adhesive bandage strips (knee, elbow, knuckle, butterfly, spot, triangular), abdominal trauma and eye pads, sterile gauze sponges and rolls, medical tape, alcohol wipes, povidone iodine wipes, antiseptic towelettes, alcohol-free wound cleansing wipes, cotton tip applicators, a CPR face mask, latex-free gloves, an instant cold compress, a medical face mask, metal scissors, metal tweezers, safety pins, a tourniquet, wooden splints and tongue depressors.

Promising review: "Wow, this is a very professional first aid kit! It has everything in it. I'm so glad I looked the choices over well. It will be a fine addition to safety on the road or within the home." —a reader

Get it from Amazon for $28.88.

    26. A water flosser that'll thoroughly clean all those hard-to-get nooks and crannies in your mouth. Try giving me anything less than an "A" on my next dentist check-up, I dare you!!!

Promising review: "So...this is amazing. This is my first review ever on Amazon after ordering numerous things. I had periodontal pockets from not flossing and I also experienced some bone loss. I literally hated flossing and would find myself avoiding to floss even though I needed it very much. My gums were red, swollen, and inflamed because I was in the early stages of periodontal disease. I started using this flosser and instantly knew I liked this way of flossing much better! After using it consecutively each night for only five days my gums were noticeably cleaner and felt much better. After two weeks of using the this flossing system my gums have done a complete 180 and my mouth and gums are starting to heal properly!" —Ebony

Get it from Amazon for $67.90+ (available in seven colors).

    27. And a monthly subscription to Quip, the beautiful and award-winning electric toothbrush with a two-minute timer to effectively remove plaque and prevent gingivitis.

You’ll receive an electric toothbrush set (including the Quip brush, travel cover mount, a large toothpaste, and a travel-sized toothpaste). For $10 every three months, you’ll be sent a new brush head, AAA battery, and two different-sized toothpastes.

Promising review: "I love my Quip toothbrush! It does an excellent job cleaning and taking care of my gums. I also love that there is no bulky charging base and cord that has to sit on my bathroom sink. The mirror mount works great. I was worried it would lose its ability to re-stick, but it hasn't! It reattaches strongly to the mirror each time I put it back. The metallic colors make no difference in performance, but they're so gorgeous you HAVE to spend a little extra for them! The brush head subscription plan is brilliant. I am expecting my first refill soon and I love that I won't have to keep using an old brush head until I remember to grab one from the store. Great style, great plan & great performance." —Amanda L.

Get it from Quip starting at $25 (available in five colors).
