The Washington Monument is among the world’s tallest masonry structures, standing 555 feet (169.29 m) in height and it is made of marble, granite, and sandstone. On July 4th every year at 9:00 p.m. the Washington Monument becomes the most spectacular back drop to display one of the biggest firework shows in America. For over a half an hour the sky around the National Mall fills up with brilliant colors and explosions to celebrate our Nation’s birth.
