This book literally gave me anxiety, I am not joking. I cannot overstate the effect this book had on my life; I was fucking SHOOK. If you live anywhere in California exercise caution with this book. If you read it and love it, read American Predator next.

I'll Be Gone in the Dark

I'm sure you already know what this book is and I know I read this really late BUT it's never too late for amazing writing. I cried a stupid number of times during this book and an equally stupid number during the movie. Fuck Hailey, iykyk. If you've read this book already you should read On the Come Up because it's set in the same fake neighborhood and it's pretty similar.

The Hate U Give

You probably didn't know this, but Confessions of a Shopaholic is my favorite book series and I've read the first book over five times. There's just something so comforting and entertaining about it, the movie did not do this book justice. It's also really funny and British.

Confessions of a Shopaholic

If you love Texas, graphic violence, super obvious symbolism and overt "Make America Great Again" themes, which apparently I do, you will love this book. Just take everything McCarthy says with a BLOCK of salt.

No Country for Old Men

Okay I know this book looks really fucking stupid but I promise you it is like the perfect Catwoman movie that we will never have. It fits into the Batman canon really well and it also doubles as a traditional YA fantasy. This is by far one of the best books I read this year and I swear you'll like it even if you have to think of it as a "guilty pleasure." If you like this book, read Wonder Woman: Warbringer next.

Catwoman: Soulstealer

HBO's Watchmen might actually be my favorite drama series ever and the first season isn't even over, and I think this is required reading if you want to enjoy the show to the fullest. Even if you don't want to watch the show this is the best graphic novel of all time so it's still required reading. I'll lend you my copy, start reading now.

Watchmen

Read this if you need a feminist (re)awakening because you got tired of caring. It made me feel like an asshole in the way a political book is supposed to and it's pretty funny. I just like Lindy West in general and Shrill is a really funny book, sorry.

The Witches are Coming

I never thought a life sentence in prison could sound so hopeful, but this one actually does. This book is really short but will probably stick with you. Read this if you've ever even considered doing your philosophy reading.

I Will Never See the World Again
