The Super Bowl Gave People Flashbacks To The Election

*holds breath and waits for Florida results*

Everyone was pretty sure the Atlanta Falcons would win the Super Bowl, until a late comeback by the New England Patriots sent the game into overtime โ€” and the Patriots to victory.

This game reminds me of something. I can't quite place it.

The down-to-the-wire victory made a lot of people think of Donald Trump. Both Bill Belichick and Tom Brady got some heat around election time for being chummy with Trump.

#TRUMP WINS AGAIN! #PATRIOTS WIN AGAIN! AMERICA KEEPS WINNING! #MakeAmericaGreatAgain #Pray4DJT #SuperBowl

Donald Trump Jr. recognized it.

Where have I seen stats like this before??? ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ https://t.co/2KNR5BlTFE

People were on edge.

Wait why haven't they called Florida yet

The fourth quarter was basically Hillary Clinton's election night party.

"We are not going to have a Super Bowl winner tonight"

Journalists tossed out their coverage plans.

To be totally transparent, we prepped a lot of content for this game but didn't have anything created for an overtime game. Welp. #SB51

People wondered if a Jill Stein might contest the results.

Hey, @DrJillStein will you be stepping in here too? #SuperBowl

But Falcons fans knew that what was in their hearts.

NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS FALCONS WON THE POPULAR VOTE

And the Patriots, in addition to their win, received warm congratulations from President Trump.

What an amazing comeback and win by the Patriots. Tom Brady, Bob Kraft and Coach B are total winners. Wow!
