Donut Snowballs

INGREDIENTS

1 large egg

1 cup milk

2 cups all-purpose flour

2 teaspoons baking powder

1 tablespoons sugar

½ teaspoon salt

1 packet hot chocolate

¼ cup (½ stick) unsalted butter, melted

1½ cups powdered sugar

Vegetable oil for frying

Servings: 6 - 8

PREPARATION

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the milk and egg.

  2. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and hot chocolate mix.

  3. Stir the milk/egg mixture into the dry ingredients. Then stir in the melted butter, mixing until a soft dough forms.

  4. Over medium-high heat, heat vegetable oil about 1 inch deep in a heavy skillet. When oil has reached frying temp (about 350°F), carefully drop balls of dough into the oil (using spring scoop or two spoons), and fry for about 3–4 minutes or until golden brown.

  5. Allow to cool about 2 minutes, and toss in powdered sugar. Enjoy
