2010: Instagram was FOUNDED!/ Lady Gaga's VMA's Meat Dress

It was SUCH a close call that I had to give the year 2010 to both Instagram and Lady Gaga.

Where would the likes of Cardi B and Kim Kardashian be without Instagram?! The billion-dollar, world-wide social networking service was launched that October by creators Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger.

At the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards, American singer Lady Gaga graced the red carpet in a carnivorous dress made of pure-raw beef. It was later mentioned that the singer cited that she wore the jaw-dropping look, in a form of protest.

2011: WILLIAM AND KATE'S ROYAL WEDDING/ 72 DAY MARRIAGE/ THE END OF THE BOY WIZARD/ BEYONCÉ'S VMA's PREGNANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

The year began in royal fashion as the world witnessed the union between Princess Diana's eldest son, Prince William and American Kate Middleton on April 29th. FUN FACT: It was the first royal nuptials the kingdom had witnessed in more than a decade and quickly positioned the newlywed couple into the British line of succession.

Speaking of marriages... Kim Kardashian's marriage to former NBA player Kris Humphries had a different tale. After a blissful romance, the former lovers made headlines in 2011 after the pair announced that they were filing for divorce after only 72 days of marriage. Now, Kim is happily married to American rapper Kanye West and Kris is enjoying life post-basketball.

This year also saw the end of one of the world's highest-grossing franchises in the history of film, Harry Potter. After years of solving mysteries, countless journeys with friends, and finishing Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, the 8th and final film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was released on July 15, 2011.

And who can forget Beyoncé's VMA's performance/reveal? After performing her hit single "Love On Top," Queen B dropped the mic, unbuttoned her sparkly Dolce & Gabbana jacket, and revealed to the world that she was expecting her first child (Blue Ivy Carter) with her husband American rapper Sean "Jay-Z" Carter.

2012: THE LOSS OF ICON WHITNEY HOUSTON/ VIRAL SENSATION "CALL ME MAYBE," BY CARLY RAE JEPSEN

The world was at a loss this year as the passing of the late Whitney Houston was announced in February. If you know true artistry, then you knew Whitney had such a unique and powerful voice that she could silence a room. The legend is the only artist to have seven consecutive number-one hits on the Billboard Top 100 charts, and the only artist with eight consecutive multi-platinum albums. Whitney is so unforgettable that there will be a Hologram Tour to feature her in 2020, An Evening with Whitney: The Whitney Houston Hologram Tour that will begin in February, in Europe.

"Hey I just met you.. and this is crazy.. but here's my number... so CALL ME MAYBE." Carly Rae Jepsen gave summer a whole new meaning with her viral sensation "Call Me Maybe". The song generated over 1 BILLION views on Youtube. After the controversy over her iconic lyrics, Jepsen sat down with THR and explained it's meaning.

"I think it’s just my type of, the way I would talk about it," Jepsen laughed. "I’m not overly confident in love. I’d probably be more coy about it, I guess, just like, ‘call me, maybe? If you want to?'"

2013: Miley Cyrus's VMA Performance

If there was any hope of a return of Hanna Montana, Miley Cyrus put all of those dreams to shame with her hyper-sexualized performance, starring Miley herself, grinding on Robin Thicke. Afterward, social media went into an uproar as moms across the country shared their disapproval and disappointment in the former Disney channel star actions.

2014: The Infamous Elevator Showdown/ The Ice-Bucket Challenge

"Of course sometimes sh*t go down when it's a billion dollars on an elevator." The lyrics from Beyoncé herself was about a surveillance video that showed an upset Solange yelling and attacking her brother-in-law Jay-Z, while Queen B stood nearby. The incident took place in New York City's Standard Hotel following a Met Gala afterparty. For some time, fans speculated what could have possibly caused the uncharacteristic behavior to spill out, inside of an elevator. Initially, Jay-Z was the only part to comment on the incident, citing a "disagreement," between him and Solange. It was not until several years later that fans were given answers to their long awaiting questions. All was revealed when Beyoncé released her album titled Lemonade in 2017 informing the world of Jay-Z's infidelities.... then Jay-Z released an album titled 4:44, cosigning Beyoncé claims and revealing further information regarding the elevator scene.

The Ice Bucket Challenge was created to help raise money and awareness for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). In a matter of 8-weeks, over $100 million was donated through the viral challenge. To do the challenge, one had to either dump a bucket of ice water over your head or donate to the ALS Association, then nominate someone else to do the same.

2015: World, Meet Caitlyn Jenner

After several years of speculation that Bruce Jenner was transitioning from male to female. The world was less than shocked to see the former Olympian & Keeping Up With The Kardashians star graced the cover of Vanity Fair June issue, revealing her new identity Caitlyn Jenner.

2016 Part 1: Beyoncé's Album Lemonade is released/ Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Split/ Leonardo DiCaprio finally gets his FIRST Oscar.

So much happened in 2016, that is had to be split into two parts. After an hourlong music-video special premiered on HBO, Beyoncé surprised her fans with her second visual album, Lemonade, on Tidal. Not only did the album debut at number-one on the Billboard charts, but it was also nominated for nine-grammies, winning two for Best Music Video and Best Urban Contemporary Album. It was speculated that the latest album was Beyoncé's response to questions regarding possibly infidelity by her husband Jay-Z. Let's just say "DON'T HURTSELF" listening to Lemonade "ALL NIGHT" because you'll be "SORRY."

Later in the year, It was announced that Angelina Jolie had filed for separation from Brad Pitt after 12 years and 6 kids together. To say we were devastated was an understatement. No one knows exactly where things went wrong, but as of now the pair are separated but not 100% divorced. During times likes this, it's best to reflect on the good times and binge-watch MR & MRS. Smith .

After Being snubbed 6 times, Leonardo DiCaprio finally secured his first Oscar. The Oscar was credited for his role in The Revenant. Instead of lashing out for not receiving the award sooner, DiCaprio decided to speak briefly about climate change in his acceptance speech.... it brought his Titanic co-star Kate Winslet to tear up.

2016 Part 2: Colin Kaepernick Kneels During the National Anthem/ David Bowie, Carrie Fisher, and Prince Pass Away/ Donald Trump Is Elected President

During the 2016 NFL season, San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick became headline news after he decided to kneel during the national anthem in protest of systematic racism and police brutality in America. Several well-known figures commended Kaepernick for his efforts, while critics shared their disappointment in Kaepernick's decision to not stand during the anthem. Since then, Colin has been featured in an Emmy-Award winning Nike Ad campaign, given an award by Beyoncé herself and has donated more than $1 million to social justice charities.

In this year, business owner and former 'Apprentice' Host, Donald Trump, was elected President of The United States of America. Representing the Republicans, President Trump secured the election with 306 electoral college votes over Democratic opponent, Former first lady Hilary Clinton. It was the first time in history that someone without any political background was elected as president.

While this year brought many highs, it also provided many lows including the loss of Carrie Fisher, David Bowie, and Prince. All three individuals were talented artists that left their mark on fans around the world with their artistry. Inducted in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1996, David Robert "David Bowie" Jones was considered as one of the most influential musicians of the 20th century, most notably for his innovative work during the 1970s. Carrie Frances Fisher was an American actress best known for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars films. Fisher would go own to win two awards posthumously, including a Grammy for Best Word Spoken Album. Singer and Actor Prince was one of the best-selling music artists of all time. During his career. Prince secured seven Grammy awards, seven Brit Awards, six American Music Awards, Four MTV Music Video Awards, a Golden Globe, and an Academy Award. He has also been inducted into both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame.

2017: Rhianna Debuts Fenty Beauty/ Serena Williams Wins The Australian Open While Pregnant/ Beyonce Announces She Is Pregnant With Twins

Weeks after Williams took home her 23rd title, her spokeswoman Kelly Bush Novak announced that the tennis star was expecting her first child with Reddit founder Alexis Ohanian.

How could we forget as our jaws dropped when Beyonce revealed that she and Jay-Z were expecting TWINS. Via Instagram, the singer shared a picture of herself in front of a floral background with a growing bump and a caption that read:

"We would like to share our love and happiness. We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes." - The Carters

2018: Harry And Meghan's Royal Wedding/ Beyoncé Takes Over Coachella/ 'Black Panther' Breaks Box Office Records

62 years ago, was the last time an American actress married into a royal family. On May 19th, the world watched as The Suits actress Meghan Markle walked herself down the aisle at St. George's Chapel to marry Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex. Surrounded by close friends and family, the union marked the first time in history that a woman of color married into the British royal family. When Beyonce agreed to headline this year's Coachella, no one expected her to put on such a sensational HBCU-inspired performance. As the first black woman to headline this festival, Beyoncé brought out all the stops with a Destiney Child's reunion, a set with her sister Solange, an HBCU band, and much more. This performance led to her Netflix documentary and live album, The Homecoming. Fun Fact: On the day of its release, it received over 1.1 million U.S. views. Wakanda Forever! Black Panther became Marvel film's highest-grossing superhero film of all time, bringing in $1.3 billion worldwide. During the Academy Awards, Black Panther brought home three Oscars including Best Costume Design, Best Original Score, and Best Production Design.

2019: The College Admissions Scandal/ The Victoria Secret Fashion Show Comes To An End/ Simone Biles

In March, it was revealed that over 50 people, including celebrities Felicity Huffman and Lori Loughlin, paid large sums of money to William Rick Singer to bribe their kids' way into elite colleges across the country.

For the first time since 1995, the Victoria Secret Fashion Show will not be gracing our TVs. After the controversy surrounding their lack to cast a diverse array of body types, and the likes of Savage X Fenty lingerie taking the world by storm, Victoria Secrets has decided to go back to the drawing board to rethink their infamous show.

At just the age of 22, Simone Biles has already solidified her place in the history books. Just three years prior, Biles was apart of the gold-medal-winning team at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. In the same Olympics, Simone won the 2016 Olympic individual all-around, won the gold medal in vault and floor, and was the bronze medalist in the balance beam. Simone is now a five-time World all-around champion with 25 World Medals in total (most in the history of gymnastics). Like others, we are eager to see what history Biles will make next year at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
