This NY Nonprofit Is Making A Big Difference For Immigrants

The Center for the Integration and Advancement of New Americans (CIANA) is helping immigrants from the Middle East, South Asia, Latin America, and beyond.

Diane Guerrero has been speaking out against the current deportation system. At 14, both her parents and her brother were deported to Colombia.

But one organization is opening their arms and telling immigrants "We want you here and we want you to be successful."

CIANA provides free english and civics classes for new Americans hoping to become productive members of society

They also have summer and after school programs for students who need extra help with homework.

CIANA's motto is integration without assimilation.

They encourage immigrants to maintain their cultural heritage, which can include making their favorite foods from home. Baklava = Yum 😋 😋 😋 😋

And they promote this cool thing called civic engagement.

Fun fact: 100% of the graduates from CIANA's Pathway to Citizenship program pass their citizenship test and have the ability to register to vote.
