WHICH OF THESE APOLOGIES DO YOU FIND MOST UNACCEPTABLE?

Saying "I'm sorry" goes a long way for you. While some people move on by dropping issues and moving forward as if nothing ever happened, it's important to you that an actual apology happens. When you regret something, you'll express it, and you'd like that in return when someone's done wrong by you.

Expressing Regret

When you've been done wrong, you aren't into elaborate explanations. When you do wrong, you don't make excuses. What matters most to you is the person in the wrong taking responsibility and acknowledging their actions during the apology. "I'm sorry you feel that way" isn't going to sit well with you, but "I'm sorry I [insert thing they did], it is my fault" is a lot better.

Accepting Responsibility

Saying "I'm sorry" in itself isn't enough. If the wrongdoing can be undone, that's ideal. For example, if someone borrowed your property without asking, then damaged it, saying sorry isn't enough. If they say sorry, replace your property, and promise not to do it again, that's enough for you. If it's not as simple as that, an apology accompanied by verbal reassurance that the person cares is best.

Making Restitution

When someone apologizes to you, you need them to express their interest in taking steps to ensure that they don't exhibit the same behavior moving forward. You need to be able to see that they actually feel what they verbalize during an apology, and aren't just saying what they think you want to hear.

Genuinely Repenting

When it comes to apologies, you like to be asked for forgiveness. It puts the ball in the court of the person who is hurt and it makes it clear that a person is sincere when they're asking to repair what they've done.
