Recently I was listening to a Spotify Daily Mix when this song came on. It's called "Love It If We Made It" by a band called The 1975 who I wasn't familiar with (excuse my ignorance).
The next day, a song by Imagine Dragons that I remembered from the Me Before You soundtrack randomly popped into my head, so I went to look for it and guess who else has a song on that album? The 1975.
THEN, a couple days later, my friend casually mentioned plans to go to concerts and guess who one of the bands they're seeing is?!
The 1975 has been around since 2002. How did I go SO LONG being unfamiliar with this band, then within a span of five days, they're suddenly EVERYWHERE I LOOK?!
I've had this happen to me with numerous things in the past, but one common example people experience is when they buy a car, they suddenly start seeing that type of vehicle around more often.
If you've ever had this happen to you, it turns out you're not alone. I googled the words "hearing about something then seeing it everywhere" and the phrase "Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon" popped up.
The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon is when you hear of/learn about/experience something for the first time, then suddenly it seems to appear everywhere.
It seems this has been happening for a long time, many of us just haven't known what to refer to it as!
But it's been happening to plenty of folks!
And it's hard not to consider that something fishy is happening!
Anyway, it's good to know that when this happens, you aren't losing your mind!
Just be prepared to see The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon everywhere now that we've all learned what it is!
