    No Guilt November

10 healthy tips and tricks so that you can enjoy a Thanksgiving feast without the guilt

Lets be honest we all like to splurge a little on Thanksgiving dinner

It's a day that we are expected to have a few extra servings of turkey, stuffing, broccoli casserole and apple pie with a little extra vanilla ice cream on top

So here are a few ways to compensate for that food baby and not feel all that bad on Friday morning...

    1. Thanksgiving morning cardio- Not all of us love running but even a morning walk with your family can make all the difference. You can even hit the gym for a morning lift if you're into building muscle. Any type of cardio will make a difference when considering the extra calories that you splurge on throughout the day.

    2. Don't wear baggy clothing- Dress to impress, something tight and fitting will cause you to eat less throughout the day so you don't have extra room for a food baby.

    3. Choose booze OR sweets- Alcohol can have a lot of hidden calories and sometimes we over indulge on desserts (especially pie...YUM) but if we pick one, alcohol or dessert, we can save a lot of those unwanted calories.

    4. Make sure you eat something before dinner- We don't want to trick our bodies into thinking that we are starving and overeat too quickly at dinner, so it is vital that you eat something light an hour or two before. Recommended a veggie platter, a few cheese and crackers or shrimp cocktail.

    5. Serving size- Stick to small serving sizes. You can always get up for seconds but it is very likely that you will finish whatever you put down on your plate no matter how hungry you are.

    6. Pace yourself- Take your time eating dinner. The slower you eat the faster you will notice how full you are. So don't be afraid to engage in any Thanksgiving table conversations, it will help maintain your pace of eating.

    7. Don't be experimental- It is not the ideal day to start trying new foods. Stick to what you know and like and it will save you a few calories as opposed to trying everything on the buffet table.

    8. Remember to eat your vegetables- This is something you probably heard your entire youth but it is still important. Vegetables will help fill you up quicker and just think about all those important nutrients and benefits you will get.

    9. Help the host clean up- Cleaning up can help in a few different ways; it gets you up and moving, it gets the food out of sight and its shows how grateful you are for the delicious meal.

    10. Plan to go Black Friday shopping- Now that Black Friday shopping officially starts on Thanksgiving night in some areas, make plans with your friends or family to get out of the house and focus your attention on holiday shopping instead of food.

Have a happy, healthy and filling Thanksgiving!
