Taylor and Kanye used to be friends. Kanye used to send Taylor flowers. Taylor would Instagram the flowers. Things were once peaceful in Hollywood.
THEN the drama started earlier this year:
Kanye released a song called "Famous" that included the lyrics “I think that me and Taylor might still have sex / I made that bitch famous.” WHICH was kind of asshole-ish on Kanye's part. Taylor and her squad were SHOOK.
At first, Taylor claimed she never approved the lyrics and even told Kanye to never release the song. This all made Kanye look incredibly bad.
Taylor even went and took a dig at Kanye in her acceptance speech at the 2016 Grammys, where she talked about the importance of taking credit for your own success and was basically all like:
Taylor's claims led to a one-of-a-kind Kanye Twitter rant, where Kanye claimed he told her about the lyrics over the phone and she approved them. Kanye was all like:
Kim knew about Kanye's phone call with Taylor over the lyrics and was ABSOLUTELY angry someone would play the victim.
So Kim and Kanye knew what they had to do: expose the receipts.
Kim decided to lay it all out in a GQ article, insisting that Taylor approved the lyrics.
The article didn't seem to phase Taylor too much and she remained adamant that she DIDN'T approve the lyrics. She was basically all like:
Meanwhile, Taylor's relationship with her boyfriend Calvin Harris was reaching its final days because of this drama over his song "This Is What You Came For."
Tension rose between the Taylor and Calvin and she eventually called it quits with the DJ. She was basically like:
Kim went SAVAGE and posted video evidence of the recorded phone call in which Taylor gave Kanye permission to use the "Famous" lyrics...
WHICH OBVIOUSLY THREW THE INTERNET INTO A FRENZY.
The majority of the public flipped on Taylor and got "#KimExposedTaylorParty" trending on Twitter.
The video sent Taylor to post a very passionate response on Instagram calling the whole thing "character assassination" and that she'd like to be "excluded from this narrative."
Meanwhile, Chloë Grace Moretz and Selena Gomezjoined the conversation to encourage others to see the bigger picture here and were basically all like:
Unlike Mean Girls, nothing has really been solved. It's not clear who's ACTUALLY the Regina here — Kanye or Taylor — but maybe it's time to take some advice from Cady Heron:
