Boston Sunday Globe To Be Delivered By 'Army' Of Reporters

Recently switching delivery vendors, the globe is in 'crisis mode.'

The Boston Globe is currently in "crisis mode," according to Scott Steeves, president of the Boston Newspaper Guild. In an email sent to Boston Globe Staff on Jan. 2, Steeves called upon Globe staff to help deliver the Sunday issue of the Boston Globe.

"We are looking for people to work tonight delivering papers in the Newton area," Steeves said in an email sent to Boston Globe employees earlier today. "I'm sure you've all heard about the papers not getting delivered this past week. We are looking for people to work tonight delivering papers in the Newton area," said Steeves.

According to Boston Globe reporter, Beth Healy, the delivery issues are a result of the Globe's recent decision to switch to a new delivery company, ACI Media Group, of Long Beach, Calif.

Globe staff members that are able to help will be given a delivery route with household address, and instructions for delivery, according to Steeves. "Make sure you have a flashlight and a GPS," Steeves said.

Several individuals, including Boston Globe employees expressed their thoughts of the crisis on Twitter.

Gonna start warming up my throwing arm in preparation for all the @BostonGlobe Sunday papers I'll be slinging tonight

I'm a Globe employee. I'm also a reader angry with 0 papers at home this week. I'll be out helping to get you Sunday's Globe. Stay with us.

Boston Globe readers, we're headed your way at midnight. Now off for a power nap before the big night starts.

Welcome to Newton @bostonglobe reporters. We'll leave the lights on and perhaps milk and cookies too!
