Tynemouth Longsands gets extremely busy on summer weekends, for good reason. It's one of the most beautiful corners of the region, with plenty of great restaurants and cafes five minutes walk inland.

Cullercoats is a short Metro ride out of Newcastle city centre, and one of the gems of the region, captured by American artist Winslow Homer in his time in the region.
