BuzzFeed's Most Viral Stories of June, 2011

It's time once again for the BuzzFeed Month In Review. We mourned the loss of three treasures of entertainment, one man's penis captivated the nation, and despite the hot weather most of us have resisted the urge to shed our mustaches. Find out more about the biggest stories of the month below!

    • Weiner's Wiener

      Weiner's Wiener

When former Congressman Anthony Weiner Tweeted a picture of his member early this month, he inadvertently kick-started the biggest story of June, and the premature end of his political career.

Although at first denying the legitimacy of the photo, even more photos and sext messages soon surfaced, and eventually photos of the Congressman goofing off in college came under the scrutiny of the press and public.

    • Just before Weiner's planned apology (which we lovingly presented through dachshunds), human cyst Andrew Breitbart co-opted the press conference, announcing that he had his hands on a fully nude Weiner wiener photo; later released through radio show Opie and Anthony.

    • Remembering Ryan Dunn, Peter Falk, and Clarence Clemons

Remembering Ryan Dunn, Peter Falk, and Clarence Clemons

Jackass star Ryan Dunn died in a tragic car crash on the 20th, at the age of 34. A generation of young adults who grew up watching the crew's bizarre, dangerous, and consistently hilarious antics mourned his loss, but perhaps none more so than co-star and best friend Bam Margera. Also passing this month was legendary saxophonist Clarence Clemons, and actor Peter Falk, best known for portraying detective Columbo.

    • Vancouver Riots

      Vancouver Riots

Following an absolutely, devastatingly humiliating Stanley Cup loss to the Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks fans took to the streets to cry about it and break each others shit. The following day, the city's less drunk residents banded together to clean up their mess in a feel-good testament to Facebook-organized social responsibility.

Earlier in the month, New York Senator Roy McDonald showed us that not every Republican is a repressed bigot when he made a bold statement in favor of marriage equality. "You might not like that. You might be very cynical about that. Well, fuck it, I don't care what you think. I'm trying to do the right thing," McDonald told reporters. After a long fight, LGBT people won the right to marry in a vote of 33-29, The Empire State building went full-on rainbow, and celebrations erupted across the city.

    • Nude Photos Of Blake Lively

      Nude Photos Of Blake Lively

Nude photos of actress Blake Lively of Gossip Girl fame surfaced early this month after a hacker allegedly blah blah whatever. It's not like she's a politician or anything. You're not really interested in anything more than the photos. So here they are.

    • Les Paul

In commemoration of the 96th year since the birth of electric guitar innovator Les Paul, Google rolled out their most interactive Google Doodle to date: the Google Guitar.

    • Katy Perry: Last Friday Night

      Katy Perry: Last Friday Night

Definitely worse than Rebecca Black's Friday, Katy Perry also made this weird Friday-themed music video, featuring a cameo from Ms. Black herself and the words "epic fail" in the lyrics. So... that's a thing.

    • The Mustache Makes The Man

      The Mustache Makes The Man

In a strange coincidence of concept, these two very similar posts, Moustaches Make a Difference and 15 Famous People Without Their Signature Facial Hair both went viral within weeks of one another. While the first was a drawing and the second consisted of photographs, the two are conceptually identical.

    • Dogs VS. Sprinklers

      Dogs VS. Sprinklers

Also known as a Wharrgarble, pictures of dogs attacking sprinklers are an annual summer-time viral hit.
