The Joseph Rowntree Foundation has just published the 2014 Minimum Income Standard research for the UK. We’ve been doing this every year since 2008. It is based on what pensioners and other members of the public say they need for an acceptable but basic lifestyle. The agreed items are then costed in real shops to arrive at a total budget.
