Who Said It: Julius Caesar Or Kanye West?

Kanye dropped this pearl of wisdom [accepting](https://genius.com/Kanye-west-kanye-west-47th-grammy-best-rap-album-acceptance-speech-annotated) the Grammy for Best Rap Album for _The College Dropout_.

It was Kanye!

"Nothing in life is promised, except death."

It was Caesar!

"In the end, it's impossible not to become what others believe you are."  


It was Caesar again!

"What we wish, we readily believe, and what we ourselves think, we imagine others think also."  


Kanye revealed his divine purpose on this earth to [_The Fader_](http://www.thefader.com/2008/11/25/fader-58-kanye-west-cover-story-and-interview/) in 2008.

"I am like a vessel and God has chosen me to be the voice and connector."

"There are no tricks in plain and simple faith."  


Emulating Spider-Man, Kanye [schooled Kris Jenner](https://www.fuse.tv/2013/08/10-unbelievable-quotes-kanye-kris-interview) on the burden he carries daily on her (cut down in its prime) talk-show.

"With great blessing comes great responsibility."

"If you must break the law, do it to seize power."

Kanye predicted his own presence in the history books of tomorrow to a reporter whilst [driving deep in the desert](http://ew.com/article/2006/01/25/is_kanye_wests_/). It doesn't get much more Kanye than that.

"I am too busy writing history to read it."

This nugget came from an interview with [The New York Times](http://www.nytimes.com/2013/06/16/arts/music/kanye-west-talks-about-his-career-and-album-yeezus.html) and still rings as true as ever five years on.

"Justice could just be clearing a path for people to dream properly."

Unbelievably this excerpt of Kanye's [MTV VMA's acceptance speech](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/11834466/Kanye-West-claims-he-will-run-for-President-in-2020.html) isn't the best part. He goes on to admit smoking up before walking onstage and promising to run for President in 2020. #MakeAmericaYeezyAgain

Yet more Kanye!

"If I fail it's only because I have too much pride and ambition."

Kanye made this defiant claim whilst reflecting on the [writing process of 'I Am God'](https://genius.com/W-magazine-kanye-west-the-transformer-lyrics). All making sense now, isn't it?

"Nobody can tell me where I can and cannot go."

Yeezus and Julius have got a lot of things in common, including accepting only the best. Maybe you need to be reading up on some of these quotes to motivate yourself for next time.

_Bene factum_! It was tricky, but you clearly know a dictator from a Yeezy.
