    1. Watch Parks and Recreation

    NBC

There's nothing like going home for the holidays, and we should all be so lucky to call Pawnee, Indiana home. I recently started rewatching Parks and Rec, and can I say it's exactly the balm I needed for this shitshow of a year. This show has so much heart and so many laughs and it's just the perfect things to put on in the background while you get on with your Christmas to-do list.

    Watch it on Amazon Prime.

Or, check out Jane the Virgin's first season on Netflix.

    2. Read Enter Title Here by Rahul Kanakia.

    Amazon

Jim says it's a "fantastic contemporary with a wonderful anti-hero who I couldn't help but cheer for."

For something shorter, how about this lovely essay about brotherhood?

    3. Listen to "Awaken, My Love!" by Childish Gambino.

    Glassnote

Donald Glover's been blowing up on his excellent show Atlanta this year, but 2016 will still get a healthy helping of Childish Gambino, too. The newest album, "Awaken, My Love!" hit shelves last week and it does not disappoint.

    Listen on Spotify.

If that's not for you, how about some bookish chats on the Penguin Podcast?

    4. Play The Trail.

    itunes.apple.com

This delightful game will captivate anyone who still has nostalgia for Oregon Trail. What really makes this exploration game worthwhile are the stunning visuals – they'll totally transport you from whatever boring IRL thing you're doing.

Get it for iOS and Android.

For something more fast-paced, how about Need for Speed?

    5. Cook these Pigs in Blankets.... IN BLANKETS.

Oh, heaven is a place on earth, amiright?

    Recipe here.

For dessert, here's hot chocolate four ways.

    6. Try taking a trip to the theatre.
