Let me put it this way: there are a few simple rules I live by. Loyalty and honesty are fantastic virtues you should strive to cultivate within yourself. Act humanely to every individual you meet, regardless of their position in life, their religious or political views, or their appearance. Live your life based on what feels moral and right, and what your conscience can bear. If you live that way, and there is an afterlife, whatever deity (if it really is kind and good and loving) is in charge can't fault you for a well-lived life, regardless of who or what you embrace as your master, even if that master is yourself.
