OMG I Just Found Out Where Cinnamon Comes From And I'm Shook

Or am I the only one that's shocked?

Cinnamon, we all know and love it. It's used to make most foods 100x better and tbh I'm not sure I could live without it.

A particularly good use of cinnamon is the mighty cinnamon bun.

OK, so this may be old news to some of you but I recently found out that cinnamon is actually bark and it has really shook me.

That's right, it is the inner bark of a Cinnamomum tree that looks like this:

See! All that cinnamon goodness is packed inside this tree!

The inner bark is then shaved off and it naturally curls into little sticks that are called "quills".

OK so I know what you're all thinking, you're rolling your eyes and saying "obviously it's bark it looks exactly like bark".

But I truly believed that it was made to look that way so we would associate it with Autumny/rusticy vibes. Those Pinterest mums had me fooled with pictures like this:

No, this has blown my mind.

Please don't come for me, at the end of the day we can all just agree that cinnamon is great.
