24 Products That Will Keep You Cool When Your Air Conditioning Starts Slacking Off

Because this heat is not cute.

    1. An oscillating tower fan that rotates a whopping 120 degrees to cool off everything from the windows to the walls. So the sweat doesn't drip down your — you get the point.

Time to vent: My house has AC but for some strange —and probably expensive to fix reason—the air doesn't get to my bedroom. It's super annoying and leaves my room feeling like Shrek's swamp. I've had other fans but they were so noisy that I'd have to crank the volume on my TV up so loud just to hear Detective Olivia Benson's interrogation. This fan, is 10x quieter than my previous one and I love that I can connect it to my Alexa echo. It can also oscillate at 120 degrees for total room cool down. My room is breezy now, sometimes even downright chilly. Just like mama likes it.

Promising review: "This fan truly exceeded my expectations. I was surprised by the sleek and expensive look and feel the fan had. Took a few minutes to put together —so easy— even with my severely arthritic hands. Much taller than expected but exactly what I wanted. What I love the most is that the length of the fan blows air — where as my much more expensive blade-less fan did not. This also oscillates 120 degrees which makes an amazing difference when trying to cool down the master bedroom that has cathedral ceilings. You can feel the breeze from one end of the room to the other. I think this is going to keep me from having to run my AC all summer which makes me very happy. I would highly recommend this fan. The remote control is even really nice quality — it feels expensive!" —J. Kim

Get it from Amazon for $129.99+ (available with WiFi connection).

    2. A 3-in-1 portable mini fan complete with a built-in power bank and flashlight. It's literally three super-practical products for the price of one. You can carry it with you around the house while you walk from room to room so you never have to be without a breeze.

Promising review: "I needed this for a Renaissance festival that was going to be extremely hot and humid. This fan ran for the entire time with a ton of battery life left to spare, and even held up after getting dropped a few times. The flashlight is also super bright. I definitely recommend this if you're going to be outside on a super hot day for several hours." —M. Klamm

"I am so glad I went ahead and bought this! I used this constantly while in Florida on vacation in the theme parks. The parks are SO HOT in the summer. I can't believe I thought at any point that I should skip buying a portable fan. I also used it as a charger and it has amazing battery power. I basically never ran out of juice and never had to use my backup. This fan kept me sane and pleasant all day long while waiting in lines, eating outdoors, and bruising my feet. I was never too hot! The color I bought is a pretty pastel pink. The bear design is a cute touch. The included wrist strap is large, but it will not fit around your neck. No, I am not speaking from personal experience. No, I will not explain further. The fan has two speeds: fast and super fast. The blades are soft-body, so if you accidentally hit the fan with your hand, it will not cut or bruise you. You can set the fan down on a table by flipping the bear cover out 90 degrees, which I do now when I read outside, or you can keep it parallel for better holding. The charger worked well for my iPhone XS. Pretty much charged it completely from 20% to 100% in 30 mins and had plenty of battery power to run the fan all day. The fan also can be used as a flashlight. The flashlight is pretty bright. I didn't use it, but I can see it being helpful." —Samantha Samuels

    a different reviewer's multi-color set

What's included: six reusable ice pop molds, six handles, a tray, a cleaning brush, and a funnel.

Promising review: "This is one of the best purchases I have made on Amazon. We have made popsicles almost daily since receiving them! They are easy to fill because they stand up well in the tray and they came with a little collapsible funnel to help with pouring. They are super quick and easy to clean up as well. The ice pops are nice and big. If you have a picky eater who loves treats, then this is perfect for you. We put fruits, veggies, Greek yogurt, you name it in there. My toddler loves to help me make the pops and I have the peace of mind that he is getting tons of super good nutrients! Also, some mornings when I’m running a bit behind, I will just grab one of the pops we made and make it my breakfast LOL. For those looking at reviews about having trouble with them breaking or are having a hard time getting the pops out, we have dropped pieces several times and haven’t had any break yet. The pops' stick parts do seem like they could break fairly easy, but we haven’t had any issues. And as far as not being able to get them out of the molds once frozen, running a little hot water over the outside of the pop for a few seconds allows it to slide right out!" —Colleen DiNitto

I just leave it sitting on the living room floor and they gravitate towards it whenever they need to cool down (they sometimes even fight over it). Both fit simultaneously if they are in the mood for sharing the space. The mat is tough, too! I don't think their nails can penetrate it." —E Marsh

My preference is always iced coffee over hot, but it's hard to do iced coffee without it getting watered down or taking forever. I usually just drink coffee at the Starbucks where I work, but the easiness of the HyperChiller has me drinking it at home much more often. Promising review: "This blanket is wonderful! I was always curious to try a weighted blanket but was skeptical if they actually worked. After reading reviews, I thought I'd give it a try. I am so glad I did. I was having a hard time falling asleep and staying asleep. After receiving this blanket, my sleep has improved dramatically and I stay asleep most of the night. I like the option of having the cooling duvet and the warmer one. I am a hot sleeper so I stick with the cool one. The only downside to the blanket is changing the duvets you have to tie countless pieces together for it to stay in place but other than that this blanket is sooo worth it!!" —Emma

    22. A set of room-darkening velvet curtains to turn your room into a sun-free zone sure to help keep the temperatures down. And, it's perfect just in case your vampire friend loses their daylight ring. Now, they'll still be able to hang out.

Promising review: "Purchased these for my studio, which is in an old mill. I wanted them for their insulating properties more than to block out the light because my studio loses a lot of heat at night due to its enormous windows. The curtains/drapes work great for both — I am especially pleased with how well they help keep the space from losing heat! Before having the curtains, the space would lose about 8 degrees in temperature overnight (which in the winter is a significant amount, especially in the Northeast). Now, with the curtains, the space no longer loses heat overnight! It is now so nice to go into my studio in the morning and find it still toasty warm!" —Noname

Promising review: "I was wary of this as it’s a bit pricey compared to other 'solutions' for being hot at night. Having said that, I don’t regret spending one penny of what it cost me. I now sleep and I never wake up hot, which I was doing constantly before having this. My advice to any woman of a certain age who suffers at night with heat, or indeed anyone who is hotter at night, buy it and you won’t regret it!!" —Tracey

    24. A teensy tiny Dash ice cream maker for all the single-serving froyo you can make.

A small pint-sized electric ice cream maker
A reviewer dipping a spoon into creamy ice cream

Promising review: "Convenient size to snuggle into even a VERY crowded freezer. I use Greek Yogurt as my base for everything I've tried so far. Mix in some blended fruit (maybe a bit of honey, if necessary) and put the mix in the freezer for about 45-60 minutes to get it well-chilled. Stir out any lumps and pour into the frozen mixer. WRAP the mixer in a dishtowel to keep it cold a bit longer (and tamper the bit of noise that some reviewers are complaining about), and then start the beater for about 7–8 minutes. You'll hear the motor start to strain when the bottom of the mix starts freezing hard, and at that point I turn it off (don't want to overwork the motor). Take that long spoon, stir up your creation and enjoy! This may sound like a lot of trouble, but besides being a good little dessert (or snack) I think it's a great alternative to making simple smoothies in my Vitamix! AND it's a real breakfast treat on hot summer mornings." —Amazon Customer
