Stuart Millar named Editor of BuzzFeed UK

He will also play a key role in the brand’s expansion into shows including #What2Watch which launches on Twitter next month.

London, Wednesday 15th May -- BuzzFeed UK has promoted Stuart Millar to Editor. Millar, who has been Head of News in the UK since 2015, will shape the site’s journalism focusing on British and European politics, social justice, social news and celebrity content. He will also play a key role in the brand’s expansion into shows including #What2Watch which launches on Twitter next month.

Ben Smith, Editor in Chief of BuzzFeed News said: “Stuart is an astonishing editor and he's made our team in the UK central to the key stories of this moment for a whole new generation of news consumers. His command of how hard news and cultural moments alike play in this new environment is exactly what BuzzFeed UK needs as it enters its next phase.”

Millar has run the news team that has delivered some of BuzzFeed News’ most impactful journalism: the agenda-setting coverage of Brexit and the chaos it has unleashed in British politics; long-running investigations revealing how vulnerable people are being hit by crises in the criminal justice and immigration systems; and multi-award winning reporting of LGBT issues, including the first public acknowledgment of the harm caused by electric shock therapy.

Before joining BuzzFeed, Millar spent 19 years at the Guardian, first as a reporter, then in several senior executive roles including deputy editor of Guardian US and Head of News.
