BuzzFeed’s Black Culture & Entertainment division Cocoa Butter has taken their first-ever serialized project to Facebook Watch with “Cocoa Butter’s The Era.”
“Cocoa Butter’s The Era” reminisces on the shared nostalgia of all things ‘90s by looking back at the most iconic moments of the decade and digging into today’s pop culture that is rooted in that era. The series will feature decade-defining celebrities - Eve, Taye Diggs and Questlove to name a few - in a whole new light, sharing hot takes, never before told stories and pivotal moments that shaped the 1990s.
In the premiere episode, host Chantal Rochelle explores black sisterhood in cinema through the eyes of legendary actress Loretta Devine, exploring how her groundbreaking role in Forest Whitaker’s Waiting To Exhale paved the way for blockbuster films like Set it Off and Girls Trip to celebrate black women on-screen.
Cocoa Butter has found viral success in community-driven content that provides a fresh lens on black culture. Cocoa Butter’s original content - including viral hits like Grandmothers Try Eachother's Sweet Potato Pie - has reached over 48 million lifetime views and has amassed a fanbase of more than 1.8 million faithful followers.
Tune in to "Cocoa Butter's The Era," every Friday at 8:00am PST.
