New York, October 28, 2014 -- BuzzFeed announced today the acquisition of New York-based startup, Torando Labs. Joining to expand and grow data architecture and tools, former Bitly Co-Founder and Torando Labs CEO Todd Levy will lead a new data engineering team as VP of Data Engineering. Also joining from Torando Labs are CTO Matt Reiferson and software engineers Taylor Baldwin and Will McCutchen.
With rich experience in data architecture and engineering, the Torando Labs team will help BuzzFeed further build its data infrastructure tools. Levy and team will leverage their experience building and scaling data systems at Bitly to enhance BuzzFeed's data systems and expand the ways BuzzFeed uses data technology.

This acquisition follows BuzzFeed's strategic vision to invest in technology and its ongoing plans to incubate and acquire new companies and technologies.
BuzzFeed will not be disclosing financial details of the the deal.
