Michele Bachmann complained earlier this month that the SuperPAC supporting Newt Gingrich, Winning Our Future, was airing radio ads using an old audio clip of her praising Newt Gingrich in a way that made it appear that she had endorsed him. (She hasn’t.)
But instead of taking the ad off the air, Gingrich’s allies have doubled down: Twitter correspondents reported hearing the spot from New York City to California to Waco, Texas.
We checked in with a source tracking the media buys, who explained that the group has plunked down a $500,000 national radio buy, mostly on talk radio, but also on professional football games.
“It’s actually not a bad move,” our source emails. “Good way to play in states ahead and be up at times on radio in South Carolina also.”
