Democrats Take A Lesson From Santorum

Obama will get in Mitt Romney's face when it's his turn.

Democrats watched with professional interest as Rick Santorum rattled Mitt Romney with an unexpected left hook this evening in Myrtle Beach, and they took a quick lesson from it: Get in his face.

"Romney is a good debater but does not like to be challenged. He has no control over himself when he is," former Obama spokesman Bill Burton, who now heads a SuperPAC backing the White House, told BuzzFeed.

Romney, typically smooth, stumbled and stuttered over the unexpected angle of attack: Santorum demanded why Romney's SuperPAC was hitting him for restoring voting rights to felons, and pressed Romney for his position on an issue typically of more interest to Democrats.

"Mitt is smart but superficial. He faltered when Rick pressed to the second and third level," emailed former Clinton aide Paul Begala. "A rare Romney debate fail."
