Nostalgic Faves The Presets Are Reuniting For A Special One-Night-Only Gig To Help The Next Generation Of Aussie Artists

"Talk Like That" was THE banger to play at school discos.

You know The Presets, the Aussie electronic music duo helmed by Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes who shot to fame in the late 2000s with tracks like "Talk Like That", "My People" and "Beams".

Well, the nostalgic faves are set to play at a special, one-night-only gig in Sydney to help the next generation of Aussie musicians and rejuvenate the live-music scene.

Exciting, right? The initiative is being championed by Smirnoff, who are taking Australia's biggest musicians back to the venues that gave them their start. Why? They want to pay homage to the crucial role that live music plays in helping emerging talent build a fanbase and become fully-fledged stars.

For The Presets, that's Sydney's Club 77, which is where Julian and Kim started honing their skills as performers a whopping 17 years ago.

If you’re not Sydney-based, do not fret. Smirnoff are organising shows — known as Smirnoff Origins — all along the eastern Australian seaboard, with the next one slated to be announced in Brisbane for January 2023.

To make these gigs even sweeter, there's also the opportunity for Aussie musicians to be handpicked by the headliners so that they can open for them. How bloody incredible is that?!

Lockdowns were such a tough time for Australia's live-music industry, so it's fantastic to see gigs like these that are focused on helping emerging musicians find their groove.

Now, if you need me, I'll be listening to The Presets on repeat until their gig.
