Remember That Time Britney Spears And Melissa Joan Hart Co-Hosted "TRL"?

It's the most 1999 thing ever. Let's relive it.

The ladies filled in for Carson Daly back on Sept. 28, 1999.

Melissa took the lead.

Shout out to Melissa's vinyl (?) shirt.

Maybe for the better – Britney flubbed her first intro.

Lou Bega's album was actually called "A Little Bit of Mambo," not "Mamba."

But she recovered with a dance.

Britney was loving the countdown – she said she "loved" multiple videos, and gave some her highest compliment of "pretty cool."

She even complimented her ultimate rival at the time, Christina Aguilera.

Christina's "Genie In A Bottle" landed at number seven on the countdown. Fun fact: Christina guest-hosted "TRL" the following day.

But Britney wasn't immune to throwing a little shade.

Sadly, Melissa said she did, in fact, like Limp Bizkit. And foreshadowing – Britney went on to have a short-lived fling with Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst.

Or lying.

When asked if she was dating anyone in 'N Sync, Britney replied, "No, the rumors are not true. He's a cutie, and he's really sweet. But, no. We're not going out. We're just friends. I wish!" But the fan didn't ask if she was dating Justin Timberlake, who Britney was describing, just any member of 'N Sync. Hmm.

Then, Britney tried to relate to Method Man and Redman.

The rappers, whom Melissa called "The Method Men," were there to promote their new album, "Blackout!" Eight years later, Britney released an album with the same name.

And then she predicted "Crossroads."

It would take three years, but Britney finally had her dream come true when the Shonda Rhimes-penned movie hit theaters.

But "movie star" Melissa Joan Hart put her in her place. Kind of.

That's Melissa taking credit for Britney's video "(You Drive Me) Crazy," which was featured in the film of the same name that Melissa was promoting at the time.

And then, Melissa grossed out Britney.

That was Britney's reaction to finding out Melissa had to make out with co-star Adrian Grenier on the first day they met. Britney was only 17 at the time.

It was all very 1999.

Along with faxes, the countdown was curated based on phone calls and emails – no texting, no online voting. How archaic.
