23 Super-Popular TV Shows That People Absolutely Could Not Watch No Matter How Hard They Tried

We all that one show that we just can't get into...

OK, so I think I can safely say all of us have a TV show or two or 30 that we love to watch and can't get enough of.

Of course, there are also the occasional times when we hear about a show that everybody LOVES and that they can't get enough of, but when you sit down and watch you're puzzled as to why everyone is hyping it because it's not good.

And earlier this week, Reddit user u/Stevie-Avail asked this question to the AskReddit community: "What TV show did you try really hard to get into, but you just couldn't do it?"

The thread quickly went viral. Here are some of the top-voted and best comments:

    1. "Grey’s Anatomy. I can’t believe it’s gone on for 18 or whatever seasons."

    2. "Arrow. At some point it got all weird, like out of sync — I think I missed episodes — with all these random new characters acting like they’d been in it for ages. It did my head in; I had to walk away."

Michael Jai White, David Ramsey, Stephen Amell, Colton Haynes, in the 'You Have Saved the City" episode

    3. "Lost. I was pretty hooked for the first two seasons, and then just lost the plot amidst all the new characters and confusing storyline deviations."

    4. "How to Get Away With Murder. Started out so well and then just got confusing. It's like it's trying too hard to keep going; when will it end???? Definitely didn't need to be as long as it was."

    5. "The Man in the High Castle. I thought the premise was intriguing, but it lost me after awhile. I even tried to restart it, and nope again."

    6. "Heroes. I made it to Season 3, but the show got away from itself. Sad that it peaked in Season 1."

    7. "The Flash on CW — it's boring and slow."

    8. "Fear the Walking Dead. The husband was the exact same character from The Mist TV series (which also sucked). None of the characters were likable, and for a zombie apocalypse it sure was boring."

    9. "Once Upon a Time. I just couldn’t care about any of the characters. I should like it as I read fantasy books, and I was a huge Grimm/Andersen fan. But nah."

Colin O'Donoghue tied to a tree with Jennifer Morrison holding a knife to his neck

    10. "The 100, I tried, I really did, but I just couldn't get into it. Also kept googling the main character's name because I thought there's no way she's not related to Reese Witherspoon."

Eliza Taylor holding her hands up

    11. "Suits. It got boring at Season 4, and I don't know why. Just thought it maybe focused too much on the drama, instead of the work problems that were what actually got me into the show at the start."

Gabriel Macht and Patrick J. Adams outside in the street

    12. "Tiger King. Stopped at the moment the main guy yelled, 'TELL UM BOUTCHA FEET!'"

    13. "24. I really like the concept and the genre, but you know that 'Name a character that's suffered more than [X]' meme? To me, it's Jack Bauer. Every time. I personally couldn't commit to NINE seasons of one man's cycle of tragedy."

    14. "Orange Is the New Black. I watched seven episodes but hated it."

    15. "I keep trying to get into Westworld. I can’t. I think I got to Episode 3 after a few attempts."

    16. "I’ve tried to watch The Handmaid's Tale so many times, and I just can't get into it, even though everyone raves about how good it is. Can’t do it 🤷🏼‍♀️."

    17. "The Walking Dead. How far can a show about killing zombies go? No matter where the plot with the lead characters goes, they are still trying not to become zombies while killing zombies. IT'S JUST A FUCKING SNOOZE FEST."

    18. "You. My friend is obsessed with it and kept talking it up. I tried twice, but couldn’t get through the first episode. That guy is just too creepy."

    19. "Bridgerton. IDK why — I LOVE Period dramas. I've watched all of Downton Abbey twice and am obsessed, but couldn't get into this one — every time I starting watching it I'd fall asleep, LOL."

Rege-Jean Page and Phoebe Dynevor arm-in-arm

    20. "Archer. I wanted to love it and tried SO hard, and the animation is glorious and the voice acting is top-notch, but I just don’t like it."

    21. "Friends. It's popular; everyone seems to enjoy it. But I found the characters abrasive, stupid, and unfunny. Borderline sociopaths, all of them."

    22. "I really wanted to like Gilmore Girls (white millennial, what can I say?), but it felt like I was losing brain cells, and I just couldn’t force myself to watch more than one episode."

    And lastly...

    23. "Schitt’s Creek. I’ve tried three times now, but have yet to finish Season 1. Everyone I know seems to love this show — like obsessive love it — and I just can’t get into it."
