OMG, David Bowie Could've Been In "The Lord Of The Rings"

In an alternate universe, Ziggy Stardust himself could've been Elrond, Lord of Rivendell.

It's hard to imagine anything that could make the Lord of the Rings films even more amazing and awesome. Well, they could've been if David Bowie had been cast in them!

In a recent interview with the Huffington Post, Dominic Monaghan (who played Sam Gamgee in the films) revealed that during his audition process he saw the Thin White Duke himself, Bowie, actually come in to audition for a role.

Reportedly Bowie was being highly considered for the role of Elrond Half-elven, which ultimately went to Hugo Weaving.

Of course the legendary singer was no stranger to acting — he portrayed the iconic character of Jareth, the Goblin King, in Labyrinth.

While the films are practically flawless, it's hard not to imagine what could've been.
