And in 2018, she publicly criticized LeBron James and Kevin Durant, telling them to "shut up and dribble!" after the two had criticized Trump in a video.
For his part, at the time, LeBron responded to Laura indirectly, saying, "I will not just shut up and dribble. So, thank you, whatever her name is. ... I get to sit up here and talk about what’s really important and how I can help change kids."
Which brings us to last night, when Laura took a very different tone on her show and defended New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees (a white man) — who was getting, frankly, lots of well-deserved criticism for, again, misconstruing Colin Kaepernick's and other NFL players' national anthem protests as being anti-military and disrespectful to the flag.
Laura said of Drew that "he is allowed to have his view" and "is a person and has some worth."
Of course, Laura's hypocrisy did not go unnoticed, and Complex Sports tweeted out these back-to-back videos that point out how different her tones are:
And LeBron, himself, also took to Twitter to respond to Laura's double standard:
Specifically, LeBron addressed how the video overall demonstrates just how black Americans are treated vs. white Americans when doing the exact same things:
LeBron also added he wasn't going to stop being an activist until he sees change. And he also created this subtweet hashtag: #ShutUpAndDribbleThisPowerfulBlackManComingFullSteam
All I have to say is: LeBron has been using his platform for a very long time to speak out about injustices and other important issues, and that's another reason why he is truly the GOAT.
