It's a prequel to Psycho. View this post on Via i-am-time-lord.tumblr.com Lately I've been getting pretty tired of all of these movies being turned into TV shows. But this prequel about how Norman Bates became crazy is 100% the exception. If you're a horror fan, and you love Psycho, and you're not watching Bates Motel, what are you doing with your life? I mean, just look at this photo of Anthony Perkins and Freddie Highmore. Perfection. Speaking of... 2. Freddie Highmore. View this post on A&E / Via cadaver-gutz.tumblr.com I cannot emphasize enough how phenomenal Freddie Highmore is in this show. Not only does he look like Anthony Perkins, he has all his mannerisms down. He has never been nominated for an Emmy, which is a CRIME. Look at that smile. He's creepy AF. He has come a long way from that adorable little kid in Finding Neverland and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and I am HERE. FOR. IT. 3. Max Thieriot View this post on A&E / Via glinetti.tumblr.com If you're not into great acting, you can always just watch for the eye candy. You might remember Max from Catch That Kid with Kristen Stewart and Corbin Bleu? Well he is all grown up now. Look at that face. I could stare at this face all day. I guess he also does a good job playing Norman's brother, but let's be honest, have I really been paying attention to that? 4. The writing is incredible. View this post on A&E / Via batesmotel.tumblr.com I don't care if you're a Psycho expert. Whatever you think you know about how this is going to turn out, you don't. Yes, you know that Mrs. Bates is dead, and yes, you know that Norman is crazy. But the way that this show has gone about creating the backstory to his insanity is incredible. It starts off slow and then escalates, getting creepier and creepier by the season, and I personally think it makes it better that you know how this turns out. It's kind of like getting excited when Bruce finds the batcave on Gotham or when the Riddler spirals further out of control. 5. The first four seasons are on Netflix. Bonus: Rihanna is set to play Marion Crane. View this post on A&E / Via fentymylove.tumblr.com Sure, you don't want to watch her die. But it's Rihanna. You're gonna watch.
