Samsung Brings Back The Blackberry-Style Keyboard

Remember when you actually had to push to text?

On Thursday morning, Samsung announced its next generation smartphones: the Galaxy Note 5 and the S6 Edge+. With 5.7-inch displays, both fall squarely into phablet territory. The Note 5 includes an improved S Pen stylus; The S6 Edge+ is mostly a sized-up version of the current S6.

Announced alongside the devices were a handful of other Samsung initiatives: Samsung Pay and support for integrated smartphone live-streaming via a partnership with YouTube. But there was one Samsung innovation that stood head and shoulders above the rest:

A physical keyboard.

Have it both ways. Large display and the rapid, accurate typing of a keyboard. #GalaxyNote5

You heard that right: a keyboard.

It's a case that turns a touchscreen into a keyboard ...

... and a Galaxy Note 5 into a Blackberry.

Keep on innovating, Samsung -- you prematurely nostalgic maniac. We can't wait to see what you come up with next.
