9 Things To Do In The Peoria Area During The Fall!

Peoria has so many great attractions and activities to offer, especially in the fall! Don't forget to add these to your fall bucket list!

Posted on

1. The Morton Pumpkin Festival

Just a short 15 minute drive from campus is Morton, Illinois, which is the pumpkin capital of the WORLD! At this 4 day festival you can try every kind of pumpkin flavored food you could imagine, pick your own pumpkins for carving, and participate in countless fun activities, like a pumpkin pie eating contest or the pumpkin decorating contest!

2. Tanner's Orchard

Who doesn't love an apple orchard in the fall? After you're done picking apples in the orchard, try one of Tanner's famous apple cider donuts or one of their more adventurous treats (apple cider slushies, anyone?)! Before you leave, don't forget to stop by and say "hello!" to the goats and chickens at the petting zoo, or go through the corn maze! No matter what you like, there's something for everyone at Tanner's!

3. Halloween Hobble 5K

Dress in your favorite Halloween costume and grab some of your friends, floormates or classmates. Chose from the 5K or a 1-mile trick-or-treat trail, and take off! The best kind of 5K has candy stations around every corner! Not a big runner? Sign up to be a virtual "ghost runner" to help fundraise for local area STEM programs in elementary schools (You'll get a free t-shirt and finisher's award, too!)

4. Three Sisters Haunted Park

Three Sisters Park has a trio of ~terrifying~ Halloween events! Grab your friends and go through the Massacre Mansion, a haunted house full of themed rooms certain to startle you! Or try the Trail of Terror, an outdoor hike with surprises around every turn! If you're feeling extra adventurous, take on Zombie Paintball, where you'll be fighting off zombies from your paintball war wagon!

5. Peoria Zoo's Pumpkin Bash

Get a peek at the Peoria Zoo and its animal family after dark! Walk along their trick-or-treat trail and get some sweet treats, too!

6. Hogwarts Garden of Botanical Wonders at the Luthy Botanical Garden

Calling all Harry Potter fans! Now is your chance to step into a magical garden, inspired by the world of Harry Potter! Luthy Botanical Gardens has put a magical spin on Halloween with wizardly plants and delights for your viewing pleasure!

7. Campfire Ghost Stories at Camp Wauconda

What better way to spend a Friday night than around a bonfire in the woods, listening to ghost stories? Toast some marshmallows and listen to some spooky stories (or maybe tell your own!)

8. Creatures of the Night at Forest Park Nature Center

Go through a haunted hike and see some of the nature center's nocturnal creatures, only if you dare! Enjoy some trick-or-treating, festive foods, a campfire and more at this fun fall event!

9. Wildlife Scary Park

Wildlife Scary Park has been a Peoria tradition for 32 years, and there's a good reason why it's stuck around!
