It is unclear if the January video was the original, as many claim this video of a group of ARMY soldiers performing the "sausage rap" was the first instance.
Then, in February, this was uploaded.
And dubbed over Vines, like this.

Social media was quite slow on the "sausage rap," but over the last couple of days it has started to ramp up in an awesome wave of #SausageRaps.
Today, a new video was uploaded to Reddit and quickly upvoted to the front page. This represented the start of something. Something great.

Reddit user PM_Your_Karma claimed to be part of the group who started the phenomenon. By all accounts, there wasn't much to it.
The #SausageMovement hashtag started trending, as people began to catch on and plan their own sausage raps.
