New South Wales Police say a body was found on Wednesday morning near the Berowra off-ramp of the M1 motorway in northern Sydney.

While the body has not been formally identified, police investigating the disappearance and alleged murder of Campsie woman Qi Yu are on scene.

Qi Yu, 28, was last seen by friends in Campsie on June 8. She made a phone call to family in China around 7:15pm that day.

The 19-year-old flatmate of Qi Yu, Shuo Dong, was charged with the murder of Yu and appeared in court on June 13. Dong is still in custody.

Previously, police have said the chances of finding Qi Yu's body were "non-existent."

On June 26 detective superintendent Kerrie-Anne Lewis from Campsie Local Area Command said the search had been extensive and "quite dense."

"We have phone records that assisted us with tracking her vehicle from Campsie, on that Friday night, on the 8th of June, from Campsie up to Ku-ring-gai, up to Mount Ku-ring-gai, Berowra ... it was back here in Campsie about midnight," she said.
