A student at a prestigious private school in Sydney allegedly raped a drunk 15-year-old girl at a house party while a friend filmed, The Daily Telegraph has reported.

Teachers alerted police to the alleged incident after hearing student chatter about the video. The video had been posted on social media and distributed to dozens of teenagers. The alleged assault took place at a house party on March 4.

The boy who filmed the alleged rape, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had his mobile phone seized by police, who discovered video of the incident.

The 15-year-old appeared in court on Monday and pleaded not guilty to charges of producing child abuse material on his mobile phone; distributing said material on social media; and filming a young person committing a sexual act on another young person without their consent.

The teenager agreed to conditions in an AVO to not approach the schoolgirl from the video, nor her school in Sydney.

The Daily Telegraph reported the alleged perpetrator will meet with detectives on Tuesday.

BuzzFeed News has sought comment from the school.
