You may have seen this footage going around the internet lately, with many reporting it shows a "disabled" man being assaulted by a 14-year-old girl.

The footage was shared rapidly online and written about by The Sun, The Daily Mail, and The Inquisitr, to name a few.

In the video, an 18-year-old boy is shown sitting on a shopping trolley while a 14-year-old girl punches him twice, leaving him bloodied and slumped over.

It seems the video was first uploaded on Liveleak where the man was identified as "guy with Down Syndrome and Cerebral Palsy."

On Thursday Victoria Police confirmed to BuzzFeed News a girl had been charged, but said they didn't believe the man was disabled, just intoxicated.

"Police have arrested and interviewed a 14-year-old girl following an alleged assault on an 18-year-old man at a Pakenham Park on Friday afternoon," a police spokesperson said.

"The 18-year-old Pakenham man suffered minor injuries during the incident and was taken to hospital for treatment for an unrelated matter."

In a now-deleted Facebook post, the girl reportedly apologised to the victim, who she labelled "disabled," but also said he "brought it on himself."
