A park sign warning about the dangers of feeding bread to ducks and geese went viral on Wednesday, prompting tens of thousands of panicked reactions to the discovery.

The sign reads: "Bread makes us ill, as it does not contain the right nutrition or calories that we need to keep us warm in winter. Rotting bread pollutes our water and causes nasty surface algae, which kills our fish and gives us diseases. It also makes our water smell."
In short, bread for birds is a serious no-no.
Bread has little nutritional value for ducks and can be a contributing factor in "angel wing", a condition that results in a bird's wings pointing out to the side rather than resting against its body.
The original tweet of the sign has over 30,000 retweets and has really shaken up people who are only now realising how damaging bread can be to ducks.
