This Girl Made A Cake With A Dead Horse On It To Protest Horse Racing

Australian model and writer Elfy Scott uploaded a picture of a cake made by her sister today. It ... probably looks a bit different from how you thought it would.

The cake is topped with a "dead" toy horse in a freshly dug cake grave. It's a protest against Australia's biggest annual horse racing event, the Melbourne Cup.

A number of horses have died in the 3,200 metre race in the last two years. In 2014, cup favourite Admire Rakti collapsed in his stall after the race and died of heart failure. Another horse, Araldo, was euthanised after breaking his leg.

In 2015, Red Cadeaux failed to finish and was euthanised weeks later.

Elfy told BuzzFeed News her sister wasn't a serious social activist but "doesn't really like the Melbourne Cup".

"She was doing it for a bake-off competition, it's actually pretty funny when you look at the hashtag. It's all normal cakes and then [my sister's]."

The photo of the cake has almost 500 likes, and plenty of people have commented with praise.

The cake has also made its way to Facebook, with hundreds commenting and sharing the picture.
