    About 24 hours after it was tweeted out, it seemed like the picture would disappear, destined to be just another footnote in the Big Book Of Viral Images that is amassing over time. That is, until Dennis' daughter logged on to her Twitter and realised her dad was going viral.

    Alex Leavey, 23, was shown the tweet by her sister's fiancé. "I immediately knew it was my dad and was laughing at most of the replies to it," she told BuzzFeed News. "My dad has a really big personality so for people who know him it was so funny that of all people walking around in Manhattan of all places this picture was taken and he’s in it."

    Alex explained that Dennis is actually blind in one eye and that he couldn't remember the moment the picture was taken. "Looking at the picture, he says he was just looking down!" said Alex.

    Shortly after tweeting about realizing her dad had gone viral, Alex had to turn the notifications off on her phone because it was freezing up from the number of retweets her tweet was getting.
