This Girl Opened Twitter To Find Her Dad Had Gone Viral In The Most Awkward Way

    Mom doesn't know.

This is Dennis Leavey from Queens, New York. He's a big Grateful Dead fan who went pretty viral recently because of an...uh...interesting photo.

Here's the pic. As you can see, it's quite the awkward shot of Dennis (wearing a Jerry Garcia tie).

The picture of Dennis went viral on Wednesday and picked up almost 5,000 retweets and 25,000 likes. People found it hilarious.

@tooshortforwhat The minute you’re trying to be nosey but get caught and look away ‼️😩😂 SB you look bomb 😘

@tooshortforwhat Hahahahaha. He looking like me

About 24 hours after it was tweeted out, it seemed like the picture would disappear, destined to be just another footnote in the Big Book Of Viral Images that is amassing over time. That is, until Dennis' daughter logged on to her Twitter and realised her dad was going viral.

You ever check twitter and realize your fucking father has turned into a meme?

Alex Leavey, 23, was shown the tweet by her sister's fiancé. "I immediately knew it was my dad and was laughing at most of the replies to it," she told BuzzFeed News. "My dad has a really big personality so for people who know him it was so funny that of all people walking around in Manhattan of all places this picture was taken and he’s in it."

Alex explained that Dennis is actually blind in one eye and that he couldn't remember the moment the picture was taken. "Looking at the picture, he says he was just looking down!" said Alex.

Shortly after tweeting about realizing her dad had gone viral, Alex had to turn the notifications off on her phone because it was freezing up from the number of retweets her tweet was getting.

People were dying of laughter over the whole thing.

im cracking over the tweets under this asjjxjsjsb

    Holy shit LMAO 😂😂😂

Alex's mom (and Dennis' wife) doesn't know about the picture just yet. Remains to be seen if it will stay that way.
