19 Female TV Characters Who Are Definitely Gryffindors

You might belong on television, where dwell the brave at heart.

    1. Olivia Pope - Scandal

Honestly, Olivia could be in Slytherin or Ravenclaw too, but she's pretty much a huge Gryffindor. No matter what she does, Olivia is pretty sure she's doing the right thing, the moral thing. She's one of the bravest and toughest women on television. Everything about her screams Gryffindor.

    2. Kate Beckett - Castle

Motivated by black and white morality, Detective Beckett is a huge Gryffindor. She knows her right from wrong, and she devotes her life to setting that path straight. Beckett is known to jump, without hesitation, into the dangerous thing (the season four finale, anyone?). She always wants to be the hero.

    3. Donna Meagle - Parks and Recreation

Heck to the yes, Donna! She is courageous, outspoken, and nervy, just like a Gryffindor should be. Also, she has a loyal heart, like most Gryffindors. She'd rock that red and gold with pride.

    4. Lois Lane - Smallville

    Warner Bros. Television

Like the show says, she is brave, kind, and a force of nature. That's pretty much everything Gryffindor is supposed to be. Lois would do anything for the people she loves, but she often lets that passion cloud her judgment. This makes her a pretty obvious Gryffindor.

    5. Maya St. Germain - Pretty Little Liars

    ABC Family

Maya would probably choose Gryffindor herself. Courage, heroics, and being faithful were always very important to her. She would take one look at Gryffindor's description and feel like she belonged. RIP, Maya. You'd be one of Gryffindor's best and brightest.

    6. Veronica Mars - Veronica Mars

    Warner Bros. Television

Veronica has the same three-way split as Olivia Pope, but in the end there could be only one. While Veronica is extremely intelligent and ambitious, her courage wins out. She knows the right thing to do and she doesn't stop until she gets it. Logic disappears to Veronica when she's on a crusade, which is very Gryffindor of her.

    7. Callie Torres - Grey's Anatomy

Callie is a brave woman. She faces hatred from her own family as a result of her sexuality, almost dies in childbirth, has to decide whether or not she's going to cut off her wife's leg, and oh yeah — she has to be a doctor, which is a pretty scary thing to be. But Callie does it and does it well everyday, facing the hardship like a true Gryffindor.

    8. Cordelia Chase - Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel

    Warner Bros. Television

It's easy to assume Cordelia is a Slytherin, but her adult morality is too Gryffindor. If you need convincing, I'm here to remind you that when she experienced all the world's pain, she decided to devote her life to helping those in need. Cordelia is outspoken and brash, so she'd be a good fit with the Golden Trio.

    9. Lane Kim -- Gilmore Girls

    Warner Bros. Television

Lane kind of risks everything to be herself, which is very courageous and very Gryffindor. She is her own hero, as I think a lot of Gryffindors would think of themselves. No matter what outside pressures say, Lane remains true to Lane — even if sometimes she shouldn't. Her nerve is one of the most dominant and impressive things about her, sealing her Gryffindor fate.

    10. Lily Aldrin - How I Met Your Mother

Lily is Lily's biggest fan, so she definitely covers the "showboaty" part of being a Gryffindor. But she is brave in her own way, like leaving her comfort zone to go explore that art fellowship in San Francisco. That takes a bold person, and Lily is it.

    11. Emily Fitch - Skins

Another tough girl, Emily is strong and full of that Gryffindor nerve. She has to be brave and love herself even after her twin sister calls her stupid for being gay, which can't be easy to do. Emily doesn't give up on her girlfriend, Naomi, even after she cheated on her. It takes a courageous person to see the good in everyone, especially when it's tough. Emily can do it, and that's why she's Gryffindor.

    12. Gloria Pritchett - Modern Family

Gloria has that brash and bold Gryffindor attitude, and she's not even remotely ashamed of it. Highly extraverted, sociable, and confident, she really wouldn't fit in anywhere else. Plus, she has Molly Weasley parenting skills and we know Molly was a Gryffindor, so why not Gloria?

    13. Kimmy Schmidt - Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt

OK, Kimmy is almost a Hufflepuff because she's so hard working but I think Kimmy might be more Gryffindor. The very adjective connected to her name is "unbreakable." That's a Gryffindor word, and you'd have to have their iron will to survive and thrive in a bunker for 15 years. If only the Sword of Gryffindor had appeared to her a year in.

    14. Jane Villanueva - Jane the Virgin

It's brave to have a baby under any circumstances, but under Jane's? That's like 100 times as brave. This woman makes her own decisions even when society would think she's crazy, but she's comfortable with herself. Jane has to put up with a lot of hardships and yet she endure — just like any true Gryffindor.

    15. Virginia Chance - Raising Hope

Virginia Chance is stubborn, willing to save the world, and always takes a stand on something. The woman went undercover to expose pollution and then took the rap for it herself so her new friends wouldn't lose their jobs. That's such a Gryffindor thing to do.

    16. Sophia Swanson - Underemployed

To graduate from college with dreams of being a writer is a brave thing to do, Sophia. Even a Ravenclaw would question whether or not to go after a dream that big. A Gryffindor, however, would just jump into it head first, as Sophia does — that is, even though she ends up selling maple bacon bars. But hey, at least she's courageous and true to herself!

    17. Allison Argent - Teen Wolf

She hunts bad guys. OK, so those bad guys are werewolves and that would probably upset fellow Gryffindor Remus Lupin. Even so, Allison is a hunter — a damn good one at that — and she's not just a love interest for the series' protagonist. She sacrifices herself and plays a role outside of romance like an honest Gryffindor would do.

    18. Raven Baxter - That's So Raven

Raven is always looking out for her family, friends, and for herself, but Gryffindors can be like that. More than anything Raven wants to do the right thing, all the while testing her limits. She's never afraid to go for the bold.

    19. Nellie Bertram - The Office

I don't know what it is about Nellie (maybe it's just Catherine Tate's appearance), but she screams Gryffindor. She's highly outspoken, headstrong, and she just has that Gryffindor aura about her. I think she'd probably agree.
