Yep. You're not a registered Birkbeck student until you enrol. You're not "on the system". As such, legally speaking, you can't claim student status (which can be useful for a number of reasons, including getting reduced council tax).

No Enrolment, No Student Loan.

You can't access student loans funding unless you've enrolled! This can, for some students, be pretty vital to their ability to study at Birkbeck - so it's worth getting enrolment done and out the way as soon as possible.

You're effectively banned from the Library until you enrol.

You've qualified for a Bursary! (you can have it once you've enrolled)

Enrolment takes nearly no time at all - and if you've qualified for a bursary, this is the easiest way to make sure you get it!

Once you've enrolled, you can choose the modules you want to study.

If you haven't enrolled, you can't sit exams or do assessments!

Without enrolling, you can't become a member of the Students' Union!

This means that you can't join societies, vote in our elections, or be eligible to receive support from our advisors! Get enrolled. Get involved. 🎉

Basically, enrolling makes your life a whole lot easier...

Getting it out of the way means you can use all the University's and the Students' Union's resources; as well as guaranteeing your student status to the relevant bodies who can provide you with loans and bursaries etc.! It's a simple procedure, here's some information to get you started.
