9 Fun And Really Unique Ways To Wake Up In The Morning

From being jolted from dreamland to hitting the snooze button and debating with yourself whether you really need to wake up that early, getting out of bed just isn’t the most fun thing to do. But since we need to do it every day, we might as well get creative with how we wake ourselves up so it doesn’t feel like such a chore.

Preset your coffee maker to brew when you wake up

One thing I look forward to every morning is my first cup of coffee – that aroma is definitely a great motivator for getting out of bed! Buy a programmable coffee maker, preset it to brew your coffee at the same time your alarm goes off, and when the aroma hits you, it’ll be easier to get up.

    Use a wake-up light

Hate getting jolted out of deep sleep by loud sounds? Try a wake-up light, which mimics sunrise by gradually brightening over a certain period of time. It provides a gentler start to your morning because it wakes you up in a more natural and relaxed way than a noisy alarm clock does.

    Schedule something fun early

Whether it’s an outdoor walk, an invigorating workout, a meet-up with friends, or just a delicious breakfast, it’s a good idea to schedule an early-morning activity that’s fun for you. It gives you something to look forward to and can make getting out of bed a lot easier.

Start your day laughing your socks off

Preset your smart TV to play your favorite comedy in the morning as a wake-up call. I mean, who doesn't like a great comedy right? The night before, I'd choose my favorite Modern Family episode and set it to play when I want to wake up. It's hilarious and gets me in a good mood quickly. And if comedies really aren't your thing, you can always pick other movies, maybe movies which you have missed due to work or other obligations. So you can use this opportunity to catch up on all those movies you wanted to see, but didn't get to.

    Use a programmable aromatherapy diffuser

Getting up every morning is more pleasant when you’re greeted with your favorite scent. Try a programmable alarm clock/aromatherapy diffuser that rouses you from sleep with gentle beeping sounds along with fragrant mists. Choose an essential oil that energizes, like citrusy scents, peppermint, or rosemary.

    Make use of technology

Mobile apps are nothing new in this digital age. So why not use a fun app to help you get up in the morning? Try out the free Book Morning! app for example, which is a storytelling alarm clock app. To wake you up in the morning, Book Morning! tells “good morning stories.” There are several stories to choose from and by getting up in time each morning, you can unlock new chapters of the story. Especially great for those who like fascinating stories!

Prepare a make-ahead breakfast the night before

There’s nothing like good food to motivate anyone to do anything. While a sumptuous meal will easily get you out of bed, though, the thought of cooking it early in the morning won’t. Try a make-ahead breakfast that you can prep the night before and just pop in the oven when you get up.

Use your favorite song as your alarm

The good thing about technology right now is there are a lot of alarm sounds to choose from, including all your favorite songs. Picking the coolest song of the moment to wake you up provides a pleasant start to your day instead of a rude awakening by random loud noises.

    Get a brain-teaser alarm clock

This is an alarm clock that you can’t just turn off. To stop the ringing, you have to solve a problem first – a puzzle, for example, or simple math. Not only will it wake you up in the morning, but it stimulates your brain as well.
