    5. Brokeback Mountain (2005)

    What it's about: Ranch hands, Ennis and Jack, are hired to look over a flock of sheep in the wilderness of Wyoming. While there, the two develop a physical and emotional relationship despite their rustic upbringings. Their relationship becomes further complicated when they marry their respective girlfriends but continue to pursue the magic they found that first time on Brokeback Mountain.

    6. Portrait Of A Lady On Fire (2019)

    What it's about: Marianne, a young painter, is commissioned to do the wedding portrait of Héloïse without her knowing. In order to do this, Marianne must observe her model by day to paint her portrait at night. Day by day, the two women become closer as they share Héloïse's last moments of freedom before the impending wedding.

    7. Before Sunrise trilogy

    What it's about: The Before trilogy followa lovers, Jesse and Céline, at three different parts of their lives. The trilogy consists of the films Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, and Before Midnight. While traveling on a train in Europe, Jesse – an American man – meets Celine – a French woman. On his last day in Europe before returning to the US, he decides to spend his remaining hours with her.

    8. (500) Days of Summer (2009)

    What it's about: This movie was amazingly filmed over the course of 12 years and features all the same actors at different ages. This coming-of-age film is unique in that you get to quite literally watch the protagonist, Mason, come of age as he grows before your eyes and explores the ups and downs of that special time known as childhood.

    What it's about: An American actor, Bob, lands in Tokyo for an ad film and ends up meeting Charlotte who has been left behind by her photographer husband. Gradually, the two discover a special friendship within each other that unravels itself in a strange beauty.

    What it's about: Theodore Twombly, an introverted writer, buys an Artificial Intelligence system to help him keep up with his day-to-day activities.     What it's about: Beautiful Boy is based on a true story about a teenager named Nicolas who seems to have it all. But when Nic's addiction to hard drugs threatens to end his life, his father does whatever he can to save his son and, in turn, his family. This brutal insight into the world of addition and how it affects the entire family unit is difficult to watch but begs to be told in the age of America's unfortunate and devastating Opioid Crisis.

    19. Me and Earl and the Dying Girl (2015)

    What it's about: Greg, a socially awkward teenager, spends most of his time with his "coworker," Earl. When Greg is forced by his mother to befriend Rachel who suffers from leukemia, he does so begrudgingly. However, this leads to an undying and heartwarming friendship between the three teens as they struggle with the usual antics of adolescence but also the lingering yet uncertain possibility of death on the horizon.
