WASHINGTON — Rep. Doug Lamborn Thursday called for an active push for regime change in North Korea and reunification with South Korea, arguing that Kim Jong-Un will not "go quietly into the night … [and will] hang on till' the bitter end."
"I would love to see regime change in North Korea as long as it can be done without provoking a war where they lash out" said Lamborn, a Colorado Republican and member of the House Armed Services Committee.
According to Lamborn opponents of the North Korean regime could smuggle technological supplies into North Korea, which would in turn help destabilize the government.
"Empowering the people through smuggling in technology" is key to getting the population behind regime change.
"I would love to see the people of North Korea get technology, like the internet or even hear radio."
"I think eventually everyone would love to see North Korea free and united with the South … like they did in Germany," he added.
