The comments come after Lady Gaga's revelation that she was raped at the age of 19, a topic she dealt with in her song "Til It Happens to You".

The song was used in the documentary The Hunting Ground, which looked at rape on college campuses in the US, and was then performed at the Academy Awards, where Gaga was joined on stage by 52 survivors of rape.

Gaga said that meditation helped her cope with PTSD. She added: "I’ve been searching for ways to heal myself, and I’ve found that kindness is the best way.”

Towards the end of the interview, she encouraged everybody to show kindness: “Do one kind act before the end of the year. Just be kind. The act itself, it’s free and it’s priceless.”
