On Wednesday, the "Yummy" singer took to his Instagram story, writing a message about the invasion of privacy.

"How do you convince yourself it's not completely inappropriate and disrespectful to wait outside my home to gawk, stare and take pictures as I walk into my apartment?" he said. "This is not a hotel. It's my home."

It's unclear whether Justin was aiming the message at fans, paparazzi, or a mixture of the two, but people quickly came to his defence on Twitter over the issue.

justin bieber really dropped an anthem about how he just wants to feel human..and yโ€™all STILL INVADE HIS PRIVACY..that just DOESNT sit right with me

justin bieber shouldnโ€™t be having to post this on his instagram story..yโ€™all should already know everyone needs privacy..this is sad real sad

The Instagram post came just days before Justin released his candid new single "Lonely" on Friday, with the personal track revealing his feelings about becoming famous at a young age.

"To be honest the song is hard for me to listen to considering how tough it was to get through some of these chapters," Justin wrote on Twitter after the song's release. "I believe it is powerful to express vulnerability and that's why I believe this song is so powerful."
